Summary
Liam is a frontline explorer, scouting new planets for colonization potential. He works alone, his missions never longer than a month, but when the wormhole to his newest assignment collapses less than a day into his mission he realizes that, more than likely, he'll be spending the rest of his life alone on a planet that turns out to be beautiful, comfortable, safe, and entirely devoid of any life more complex than plants. When the boredom and stir-craziness get to him only a few months into his new life, he heads up an uncharted canyon, searching for anything more engaging than watching the grass grow. When he finds an alien city he's overjoyed at the thought that he might not be utterly alone - and, it turns out, The City feels the same way.
