Chapter Text
The heavens were always a place for the gods to meet up, especially for special occasions such as this one.
To he honest, Aquarin (God of the water and ruler of all of the creatures that could swim) wasn't entirely sure what the occasion was, as he was still rather young and didn't really understand why everyone else was buzzing with energy.
All he knew was that his mother, Terradisia (Goddess of the earth and ruler of all of the land animals) and his father, Ventelum (God of the Sky and ruler of all the animals which can fly) were currently locked behind a golden door while everyone else waited outside. The only other person in the room with them was Puervita (Goddess of childbirth).
Aquarin kept looking out of the large, beautifully designed window. There was mostly just outer space out there, sure, but there were so many stars and planets around... Including Earth, which is the main planet that the gods visit. It was a beautiful thing but clearly unfinished.
The planet formed when his parents, Terradisia and Ventelum, were born at the same time, creating the planet. For the longest time, their creatures, plants, and other creations could only survive for so long...
That is, until Aquarin was born. His birth caused an earthquake on Earth, causing large chazms and pits on the planet to be filled with water, creating oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, ponds, and every other body of water, no matter how big or small.
Although the only creatures in the water for the longest time were just plankton and bacteria, Aquarin has started creating new creatures to inhabit many parts of the world's waters.
Since he was young, he didn't create much, but it didn't stop everyone else from being impressed with how much he did create despite his young age.
He sighed... Despite the fact that he wanted to talk about his latest product: the shark, everyone else seemed to be too busy for him to talk about it.
To entertain himself, he decided to try and remember his family tree, as he was young and sometimes forgot how everyone was related.
He started with his mother's side. His grandparents were Morshysta (Goddess of Death) and Vitarum (God of Life). They have three daughters: Terradisia, Curanita (Goddess of Medicine), and Temptura (Goddess of the Seasons).
Out of either of his aunts, Temptura was the only other sister to have children besides Aquarin's mother. Temptura, alongside her husband, Elementtuor (God of the four elements), have quadruplet daughters. Yes, quadruplets!
His four cousins are still fairly very young, around the toddler stage of life, a few decades younger than Aquarin himself. Their names are, from oldest to youngest, are: Autufolia (Goddess of Autumn and Air), Hienix (Goddess of Winter and Ice), Vernatura (Goddess of Spring and Plants), and Aestasola (Goddess of Summer and Fire).
Don't get Aquarin wrong. He loves his cousins a lot, as he believes that family is everything, no matter how related or not, but he wishes there was another boy in the family...
But hey, at least he had uncles...
Speaking of which, his father's side of the family were interesting as well.
His grandparents were Fulgurtempas (God of lightning) and Verientia (Goddess of the Truth, wisdom, and knowledge).
They have three sons: Ventelum, Celatem (trickster God of illusions), and Belluelium (God of War). Belluelium is married to Paxordia (Goddess of Peace and Harmony). Although Ventelum is the only one with a child, Belluelium and Paxordia have been talking about trying for a child, so, who knows, Aquarin will probably have more cousins in the future, but only time will tell.
There were more gods, but these were his immediate family... And the only ones currently here.
Aquarin sighed, feeling bored, like any child his age would be. He continued staring at the planet, which still looked so incomplete to the young god... There was just something missing to make it perfect... But what?
'I'm just saying... It would be funny if fireworks just happen to go off when our big bro exits the room with his wife and newborn...' Celatem said, hands in the air in mock surrender as Belluelium stared daggers at his younger brother.
'Don't even think about it!' Belluelium warned him. 'I will not be held accountable for your stupid shenanigans when things inevitably get out of hand.'
Paxordia gently placed a hand of her husband's shoulder. 'Now, now, darling. Let's not get worked up. Today is supposed to be a joyous day. To celebrate a new life gifted upon us.'
'I agree with you there, Paxie.' Curanita nodded in agreement.' I can't wait for my new niece or nephew.'
'For Terradisia's sake, I hope this is her last child. I love children, especially my own, but I’ve been restless with my girls.' Temptura couldn't help but comment, yawning as Elementtuor was busy trying to entertain their quadruplets.
'Now, now, darling, how many children they wish to have is completely up to them.' Morshysta commented, the kindhearted Goddess sympathetic to her daughter's exhaustion.
'I agree. The gift of life is precious and should be cherished in whichever way parents see fit.' Vitarum agreed with his wife.
Fulgurtempas, who had been quiet so far, spoke up. 'Personally, we have enough worries on our plate. The demons have been causing havoc, and they don't seem to want to stop!'
'My dear, I understand that you are worried... Believe me, I am too... But we are about to have our second grandchild. Let's celebrate and relax while we have the chance, alright?' Verientia suggested to her husband with a smile. He huffed but knew that she had a point.
Gentle footsteps approached the young water god as he watched the planet. 'Feeling bored, Aqua?'
Aquarium looked up and smiled widely. 'Maginefica! How are you?'
Maginefica (Goddess of Witchcraft) was by far Aquarin's favorite cousin... Okay, technically speaking, they weren't actually related, but they were essentially cousins via technicalities.
You see, Maginefica is the daughter of Puervita, and Puervita is Paxordia's sister, making Magi closer to being a second cousin to Aquarin, but he didn't mind this.
He really liked her, as she was by far the coolest person in the family. She was always participating in witchcraft, so she almost always had something new to show the easily impressed child. She was at her preteen stage of life.
Some say she's the fairest of all the gods and will probably look even more beautiful as she grows up, but Aquarin somewhat disagrees with this. Sure, he believes his favorite cousin is pretty, but, in his opinion, his mama is the fairest of all the goddesses in the family.
She sat next to her little cousin, smiling brightly. 'What are you thinking about? You seem to be lost in thought.'
'... Something is missing.' He said, looking at the lonely planet. 'It doesn't feel complete... Even with myself, mother and father now adding animals more than ever, it doesn't feel like enough... Or that most of those animals are ready and completely to be placed onto the planet.'
Maginefica watched the planet in thought, now taking what her little cousin said to heart. 'I think I understand what you mean... But I'm sure that, eventually, something is going to complete the planet.'
Aquarin nodded, continuing to, quite literally, stare into space and onto the planet which the gods deemed their own. Maginefica sat beside him, looping an arm around her favorite cousin and letting him lean into her hold.
They sat like that for a bit, watching their creation that kept growing as decades and even centuries past, while mild, controlled chaos continued on behind them.
It was nice not to be alone...
...
Suddenly, however, something began to happen to Earth.
It began to visibly, violently shake. It was a massive earthquake. The two young gods sat up, surprised by what was happening, the kind goddess still holding her younger cousin.
To their amazement, large, vibrant plants began to grow on the planet. The plants seem to be able to live a very long time... They all had a single stem or, rather, trunk and branches that supported a vast number of leaves.
Aquarin was amazed by the vibrant green and brown colors, immediately knowing what the plants were despite the fact that this is the first time they were popping into existence. 'Trees...'
'Trees?' Maginefica asked, also amazed by the plants.
When they thought it couldn't possibly because even better, something else happened. Large landforms emerged, rising prominently above their surroundings, generally exhibiting steep slopes, a relatively confined summit area, and considerable local relief.
'Mountains...' The slightly older goddess said under her breath as Aquarin just nodded, also amazed to see the gray landmasses, which had so many colors with all the plants and flowers growing on them. Some were even so tall that snow started forming on the peeks.
The two just started in awe for a few minutes, as it was truly incredible. Aquarin, in particular, felt joy upon seeing this...
The planet was complete.
'Quite beautiful, isn't it?' They turned around to see Puervita standing behind them. The other gods were so busy talking to each other that they didn't notice the Goddess leaving the delivery room.
'Mother? What happened? Why did trees and mountains grow on Earth?' Maginefica asked her mother, looking between her and the planet.
'Why, my dear...' Puervita smiled warmly. 'The new God has been born.'
The Goddess of Witchcraft looked so excited upon hearing this while Aquarin seemed surprised. 'A new God?'
'Yes, Aquarin, the new God has blessed us with his presence. In fact...' She knelt down to the young god. 'You will be the first to meet him.'
The eyes of the water god widened with wonder and pure childlike joy. 'Really?'
'Of course! Your parents requested as such.' Puervita turned to her daughter. 'Magica, dear, please distract everyone for a few minutes...'
'No worries, Mother, I've been working on a new act which I'm sure they'll love.' She got up, walking towards everyone as cast a spell which created purple smoke, something she always did to devert everyone's attention.
As she did so, the Goddess of childbirth guided the young god of water towards the room, ushering him in and closing the door behind them.
She guided him up the stairs, which led to a platform. On said platform was a fairly large bed. Terradisia was lying down on the bed with a bundle in her hands while Ventelum sat on a chair beside the bed. However, he stood up upon seeing his son approaching.
'Aquarin, my little Guppy, how are you?' He asked, lifting his son into his arms and spining him around, causing the child to laugh excitedly.
The gods primarily have two forms: the Ultimate form (an almost monster like for which matched the domain of the god in question) and their Regular forms, which they had activated at the moment.
'I'm great, father! Did you see the planet? It's finally complicated!' He was so excited to share this with his father, almost bouncing in Ventelum's arms.
The older god chuckled. 'We know, Aqua. It's quite incredible, isn't it? But do you know why that happened?'
'Umm... Because there's a new God?' The young god asked, and his father nodded. 'Well done, my smart boy. And it's time that you meet him.'
Aquarin still in his hands, Ventelum walked towards the bed where his wife lied and sat his son down so the boy was close to his mother.
Terradisia smiled gently, slowly turning the bundle of blankets towards her oldest child so he could see the baby better. 'Meet your little brother, sweetie.'
The young god looked at his mother with surprised eyes... However, his attention shifted to the bundle when her words actually registered in his mind...
Ventelum had golden blonde hair with earth brown eyes, while Terradisia had beautiful walnut colored hair and sky blue eyes. Aquarin's blond hair was more of a sandy blonde color, and his eyes were a slightly deeper sea blue color...
The baby's hair was a deep, tree trunk brown, and his wide, adorable eyes were the same, slightly lighter shade. In Aquarin's opinion, it was just about the most adorable thing he had ever seen...
The couple almost chuckled as they quickly realized what was happening: love at first sight. Their sons were just starting at each other, both of their eyes wide in wonder, and there was so much love between them... It was clear that a bond like no other was forming right there and then.
Gathering some courage, Aquarin extended his hand towards his new brother. The baby, in turn, wrapped its tiny hand around his big brother's finger. Aquarin stared, eyes even wider as a wide grin formed, his happiness on a whole new scale.
Their mother couldn't help but let out a soft laugh. 'Do you wish to hold your little brother, dear?' Aquarium looked at his mother and nodded vigorously.
His father laughed a little, slowly taking the bundle from Terradisia and placing it gently into his son's hold. 'Hold him like this and remember to support his head. He's still a newborn, after all.' The water god followed the instructions the best he could.
Once his brother was in his hold, however, it was clear that he was never going to let go. The two parents felt their hearts warm up at the sight of their Guppy holding their little Sapling.
Aquarin turned to his parents. 'What's his name?'
Ventelum smiled. 'His name is Arborist, son. He is the God of the forests and mountains and rules of all animals that may climb.' He explained as his oldest son nodded.
'I like it!' The young God said, no longer able to take his eyes off of his baby brother.
He smiled lovingly. 'I promise, Arbor... I'll protect you no matter what...' Aquarin gently hugged the baby he was holding...
...
Unbeknownst to him that this promise was something he was not going to be able to keep...
