Chapter Text
The living room was a comfortable chaos, as usual. A half-eaten bowl of popcorn sat on the coffee table, abandoned when the drama on screen hit its climax. Gahyun was sprawled out on the floor with her phone in one hand, casting occasional glances up at the TV. Handong was tucked up in the armchair, legs folded beneath her as she watched the screen with an amused smile. Bora sat cross-legged on the couch, visibly immersed, while Yoohyeon leaned in with a little too much intensity for anyone’s comfort, face scrunched up as if she were experiencing every dramatic twist herself. Minji was beside her, casually flipping through a magazine but humming along with the OST like she had seen this episode a dozen times before. Yubin, meanwhile, was perched on the arm of the couch beside Minji, half-watching the drama and half-teasing Gahyun over her reactions.
Across the room, Siyeon was sitting at the dining table with one leg tucked under her and the other pulled up, her knee resting against the edge of the table as she chewed her dinner and tapped away on her phone. Deep in conversation with their producer about a new song, she occasionally threw out a hum or mumbled a 'hmm' as she thought through the melody in her mind, paying little attention to the show or her loud, dramatic dormmates.
On the screen, the main characters were staring into each other’s eyes, their faces close, voices low and trembling. It was a confessional moment that bordered on cringe territory, but nobody could deny the intensity. “I’ve loved you from the very first moment,” the actor whispered, his eyes full of unrestrained adoration. “You complete me. My world, my heart—they are yours, forever and always.”
Gahyun’s face twisted, and she made a gagging sound. “Yah, this is so dramatic,” she muttered. Then, as if struck by inspiration, she blurted, “Guys, can you even imagine Bora unnie saying stuff like that to Siyeon unnie?”
At once, everyone paused. They all looked at each other, then burst into laughter. Minji leaned back, clutching her sides, while Yoohyeon nearly fell off the couch from laughing so hard. Even Yubin cracked a smile, shaking her head at the absurd thought. They all adored Siyeon and Bora’s relationship, sure—but the idea of the two of them in such a cheesy, syrupy exchange? Impossible.
“Nope,” Handong deadpanned immediately, her lips twitching as she fought a smile.
Yoohyeon winced. “Absolutely not,” she added, her voice almost a groan.
Bora, who’d somehow become the hot topic of romantic speculation didn’t share their amusement. “Yah, what’s that supposed to mean?” She crossed her arms, pouting. “You don’t think I’m a good girlfriend?” She looked around, her eyes wide in exasperation. “Isn’t this the kind of thing couples do?”
The others exchanged amused glances, the maknae shrugging her shoulders with an apologetic smile that wasn’t apologetic at all.
“Face it, unnie,” she teased, leaning over the back of the couch. “We just can't picture you whispering sweet nothings.”
Bora huffed, her competitive streak ignited. “Well, maybe you all lack imagination.
Handong snickered. “Or maybe we just know you too well.”
Feeling cornered, Bora glanced over her shoulder. “Siyeon-ah!” she called out, her voice tinged with urgency. “A little help here?”
Siyeon looked up from her phone, her eyes slightly unfocused, as if it took her a second to process what was happening. She blinked, then took in Bora's pleading expression, her mouth curling into an amused smile. She knew that look. Bora wanted backup.
Without saying a word, she set her phone down, got up, and walked over to where Bora was still sitting on the couch. She came up behind her, draping her arms all over Bora's front, her fingers spread possessively over her girlfriend’s chest. Bora tilted her head up, and before she could say anything, Siyeon leaned down, capturing her lips in a deep and passionate kiss, that was far from the quick pecks the other members might have been used to seeing.
“Oh, why, why, why, what’s this now?” Gahyun questioned in shock, but the unnies in love were too engrossed in each other to pay attention to her.
Bora's eyes widened in surprise, her cheeks flushing as she fumbled to kiss back, her mind going blank with the suddenness of it all. Siyeon pulled back just slightly, her lips grazing Bora’s ear as she whispered, “Don’t mind them, babe. I’ve got your back.” She gave Bora’s ear a quick, playful bite before pressing a soft kiss to it, then leaned back just enough to look at the others.
Everyone else was gaping, frozen in various states of disbelief, but Siyeon’s expression was serious, almost cocky. She kept her arms around Bora’s shoulders, a show of silent support, daring anyone to comment as she arched a brow at them.
“Just for the record,” Siyeon said, her voice casual but with a mischievous glint in her eye, “Bora unnie’s got all the romance anyone could want. You guys don’t need to worry—she knows how to keep her woman happy.” She gave the others a wink and stayed right where she was, daring anyone to challenge her statement.
The youngests of the group sat frozen, staring as if they’d just witnessed a crime scene. Yoohyeon looked both scandalized and oddly impressed, one hand over her mouth. The horror on their faces was palpable.
But Minji—bless their sunshine of a leader—broke the silence with a loud cheer, clapping her hands in excitement. “Encore! Encore!” she chanted, laughing so hard she nearly fell off the couch. “I’ve never seen Bora so flustered! Do it again!”
Yoohyeon pulled Minji back, half-laughing, half-mortified. “Unnie, stop! I don’t think we can survive an encore.”
Bora, still dazed, glanced up at Siyeon, who smirked proudly, clearly enjoying the reactions. She raised an eyebrow at the rest, who all sat frozen with wide eyes and open mouths.
Gahyun finally managed to speak, shaking her head. “You know what? I think I’ve hit my romance quota for the year.” She gave an exaggerated shudder. “Yah, Siyeon unnie, next time give us a warning before you two start... whatever that was.”
Siyeon just shrugged, giving Bora’s shoulders one last squeeze before releasing her. “Noted,” she replied smoothly, not an ounce of remorse in her voice. “But I can’t make any promises.”
With that, she strolled back to the dining table, picking up her conversation with the music producer where she'd left off, leaving the others in various states of amused horror and Bora with a faint, lovestruck grin on her face.
As the group finally settled back into their seats, Yoohyeon muttered, “You know, I think the drama was actually less cringe than our own living room tonight.”
Everyone burst into laughter, including Bora, who couldn’t bring herself to be embarrassed anymore. She looked over at Siyeon, now back to her phone as if she hadn’t just sent the whole room into chaos. It was so her, so effortlessly bold and shameless, never failing to throw Bora for a loop and somehow make her fall even harder each time.
Bora sighed, equal parts exasperated and amused, then reached for the remote. She pointed it at the TV, ready to rewind all the parts they’d missed thanks to her and Siyeon’s shenanigans.
