Sleepless Nights

Summary:

Magnus didn't get any sleep last night, luckily or unluckily for him Ido has decided to visit today

Work Text:

Magnus stayed up all night, who knows why. Writing, reading, sometimes just.. thinking. Only the stars know what's going on in his mind. He looked through his fogged up window, wiping a hole out to the world every few minutes. He'd feel himself start to drift off to sleep, but not until the sun started to come up.

Maybe his thoughts finally started to quiet down once the silence of the night began to leave, but he almost thought it returned once something blocked his vision. He thought he was hallucinating at first, maybe the night decided to visit him. But his eyes began to focus to see a familiar figure, mirrored to him through his window.

Ido smiled at him through the glass, giving him a meek wave. Magnus rolled his eyes, knowing he probably won't get any sleep. Although it was daytime now anyways so he probably shouldn't worsen his schedule. Now that he thinks about it, Ido never visits him during the day. He stared at him with a question in mind as he opened up the window to let him in.

Ido stumbled inside through the small opening, almost falling but managing to catch himself with some miracle.

“Why do you never come through the door like a normal person?”

Ido looked at him but didn't give him a verbal response, just shrugging and giggling. Ido began to walk around Magnus's place. Magnus began to follow, confused.

“....why are you here?”

“Missed you.” Ido stopped walking and turned to him.

“Huh?” Magnus barely processed the tieflings words. Ido shrugged and took a step closer to him, looking almost nervous.

“I just.. wanted to see you is all. I mean you barely text so I wanted to be around you in person. I missed you.”

“I… oh.” Magnus didn't know how to respond, hell he was barely awake, barely functioning. He rubbed his eyes, hoping to wake himself up.

“Are you okay? You don't look alright.” Ido tilted his head, reaching a hand out to Magnus, but not close enough to touch him.

“I'm fine, I just need some coffee for today.” Magnus began to walk away, towards his kitchen. Ido cautiously followed, not taking his eyes off of Magnus. “Why are you staring at me?” He mumbled out.

“Ah uh,” Ido stammered, forgetting people can be aware of him. “I was just admiring you is all.” Magnus looked at him, sort of confused. “Even while you look.. as sleep deprived as you are, you still hold beauty in you.”

“..Ah.” Magnus looked away, not conscious enough to really understand Ido’s words but felt flattered anyways. He continued to walk towards his kitchen again, but stumbled slightly. Ido immediately went to catch him without a second hesitation. Magnus looked up at Ido as now he was in his arms. Ido offered an unsure smile as Magnus stared blankly at him for a moment., a little bit shocked.

Ido was about to push him away before Magnus rested his head on Ido, too sleepy to really think about anything.

“Oh” he let out softly, not expecting that from him. He stared down at the man so close to him, he didn't know what to do for a while except pat his back. He decided to pick him up in a sort of bridal style, struggling a bit at first as he doesn't usually pick people up.

Ido brought Magnus to a couch nearby, closer than his bed was. He placed him down next to him, sitting on the couch as Magnus laid there, resting his head on ido's lap.

Ido ran his hand through Magnus's hair, sorting it out into different sections on his leg. Magnus's eyes were closed, but he wasn't quite sure he was asleep. But soon enough he got his answer as his eyes slowly opened.

“Ido?”

“Yes Magnus?”

“Do you ever think about your future? What it holds for you?”

Ido looked away, thinking about his question.
“No. Well, sort of.. why?”

“It doesn't matter.” Magnus closed his eyes again and Ido stared at him, as if he was trying to look inside his mind. Something didn't sit right with him. Ido pulled Magnus up and readjusted so he was closer to his chest, although still had his hand in Magnus's hair.

“Huh?” He looked confused, disturbed from his mediocre rest.

“It's fine if you don't want to tell me what goes on in your mind, but I hope I can offer comfort for you.” Ido spoke softly as he rested his other hand on the side of Magnus's face.
Magnus smiled, almost sadly. As if there was something he wanted to say but couldn't. He felt his heart skip a beat as ido got closer to his face, only to rest their foreheads together for a moment. Then Ido moved again and planted a kiss on the top of his head.

Magnus could feel himself losing the battle of sleep as he rested his head in the crook of ido's neck.

“I hope one day my love is enough.”

Magnus's dreams were peaceful that night, no overwhelming thoughts taking over the meaning of his dreams. Just, nice, quiet.

Although when he woke up again, it was night, and Ido was already gone. He doesn't know why he'd stay anyways, even if it'd be nice to wake up with him.
And now he has to fix his sleep schedule, again.
