Work Text:
Cookie slipped back under their blanket, shivering slightly.
"Hm?" King-Lu mumbled.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up, it's just freezing out there."
"Hm?"
"Never mind, sleep," Cookie whispered and cuddled closer.
"Freezing where?"
"Here in the bedroom and in the kitchen too. I didn't want to get the fire here going because I thought the oven would be enough, but it's too cold after all."
"Why are you up anyway?" King-Lu opened one eye.
"Because it's morning already."
"Can't be. It's so dark."
Cookie didn't reply, only hummed in agreement.
"I hate winter," King-Lu grunted. "Did you leave anything in the oven?"
"On the stove, but just the kettle."
"Aren't you afraid to fall asleep?"
"I'll hear it boiling. And you are awake too now."
"I'm not getting up until the sun's up."
"Let me start the fire when," Cookie attempted to get out of the bed, but King-Lu hugged him tighter.
"Stay."
"I'll be back in a second, just take the kettle off."
"And grab another blanket?"
Cookie chuckled.
"And grab another blanket, okay."
King-Lu begrudgingly let him go.
He was still awake when Cookie returned into the bed, to both their surprise.
"Come here," he yawned. "Your hands must be like ice."
"They are," Cookie smiled, putting his head on King-Lu's chest.
"It's easy to fix, though," King-Lu said, took Cookie's hand and gently kissed the fingers.
