He wept

Summary:

He wept and wept, with the sea and sky responding in kind, mourning for a son they had lost.

Notes:

“The Prophet of the God of Deception. He was a pale man, with snowy white hair dragging through the ground as he spread the word of his deity, and the future. He hadn’t been seen since one snowy night. But it had been said that people had heard the poor man’s anguished sobbing echoing through the ocean tides and the sky’s calm breezes before he was never to be seen or heard from, ever again.”
- A tavern owner, retailing a story from several centuries back.

Work Text:

He sat there, numb and lost. His colder body further becomes one with the howling blizzard, with no end in sight. His gaze once filled with excitement and wonder so much so that it could rival that of a child was now anguished. The gaze of that who knew too much and crumpled within the weight of that knowledge.

Black locks of hair cascading down his face to his lap. He hated it. He loathed it with his entire being. Black was not the color of his hair. It had been as white as snow. Now tainted upon the sin of loving someone.

He finds it amusing. How out of all the things we can fear, we chose love. The world's greatest treasure is the same as its biggest fear. Flaw. Because it was a flaw. To love someone was to lose someone.

His hands unfurled itself from its tight clutch over his pants. Huh, pants. Something he had never had, never worn, and never had a need to. He gazed at his lap numbly. All the anger and frustration and sadness he felt now all washed away. He was too tired to feel anymore.

He knows to himself that he is merely burying his anguish like he buried them. But what else could he do? The further he drowns in this rabbit hole, the more he would lose himself.

The world is a cruel tsunami of darkness. With all its light eventually being swallowed whole by those greedy for more. Perhaps he had once been greedy. Expecting to be happy within the arms of someone he cannot have.

He longed, he had and was then stripped of that.

He saw more than he felt his tears falling down. He stared at it numbly, and then he chuckled. Out of exhaustion, out of sadness or perhaps out of madness itself. He laughed and he cried, weeping for those lost.

Longing for a home he was kicked out off. For the love that burned him alive. For the lose of what he was as a person.

He wept and wept, with the sea and sky responding in kind, mourning for a son they had lost.

He wept until he could no more.

Only to repeat.

And to drown.

Notes:

How sad, perhaps at the end of day, we all cannot have what it is that we long for.

He’s still young here, just shortly after he was cursed. He was bitter and hurting, hating the world for what it’s done to him.

He hated everything and everyone, seeing the world as nothing but a bloodsucking black hole. Ready to swallow all the lightness the world will offer in due time.

But as he grows older, he will become more sad rather than angry. He would then start to look at the world more differently, more sadder but the truth, rather than the dark world he had seen when he was hurting.

He would mature, he would become more neutral. And he would be kinder for a world that hasn’t been as kind to him.

But it is not this day. It won’t be for a long while. He will stay bitter until he’s healed and accepted his fate.
