His mouth finds her neck, his lips grazing the sensitive skin just below her ear, and she shivers.
“Baela,” he murmurs, his voice an arrow that sends a quiver through her, “if I gave in to the part of me that belongs to you entirely, the one that’s more animal than prince, I would let you mark me right here”—he brushes his mouth over the hollow where her neck meets her shoulder, his teeth grazing the skin just enough to make her pulse quicken—“and I’d bite you in return, just to prove that no one else can claim you.”
Her breath catches, and she feels herself smiling, her voice tinged with a wry amusement. “And here I thought you were too young to understand that sort of madness.”
He smiles against her, his fingers tightening slightly on her stomach as he presses another kiss to her skin.
“It seems I’m growing up faster than anyone expected,” he whispers, his voice hushed, as if he’s sharing a secret meant only for her. “But if madness means wanting you, aching for you in ways that make me forget what I was taught, I’d gladly forsake it.”
