Summary
It was evident that Hunter was trying to soften somehow Echo’s resentment at having had his intuition and common sense downplayed. That didn’t work, either. Echo was too angry and aggravated to feel any sympathy for Hunter.
--“You need something for the pain”—he had wanted to phrase that as a question but it sounded, harsh, and even to his disgruntled ears it sounded more as the snarl that any instructor in Kamino would have used for some insurgent cadet that came back after running right into a durasteel wall.
