Leia stared in the mirror and wondered what Han saw when he looked at her. She saw a distant woman her parents wouldn't recognize. Leia left the ensuite and froze in place. The last thing she had expected for Han to be in her bed under the comforter his eyes locked on the ensuite door.
"Coming to bedt? Han asked, reaching his hand out to her.
Leia put one foot after the other, took his hand and stood next to the bed.
Han kissed the back of Leia's fingers before pushing the comforter off of himself and holding his arms out to her. "Will you let me hold you?" Han asked, "just hold you. I would never hurt you or force you to do something you didn't want. It might be our last chance to sleep in each others arms before I have to take you to the fleet and leave for Tatooine to pay off Jabba the Hutt with interest."
"You're not coming back," Leia said.
"I'm going to do my best to get back to you," Han said. " I don't know what that slug is going to do. He might just take my money and let me go, but there's just as much chance that he'll kill me to make an example of me. I need you to promise me something."
"If I can," Leia said.
"Stay with the fleet and not let them send you to a land base," Han said. "I need to know you're as safe as you can be."
"I promise," Leia said, crawling into bed with Han laying on his chest. "You make a nice pillow."
"Your hair smells nice," Han said.
Leia's head rested on Han's chest hoping he'd come back to her safe and not another person missing from her life. .
