Rin tossed and turned in the top bunk of the bed, unable to sleep. Why? He had no idea. But its been hours, and no matter what he did he couldn't fall asleep for the life of him. He groaned in frustration as he turned to his side again, facing the wall.
Just then, he heard a noise from the bunk underneath him, where Bachira was. Rin didn't think anything of it, until he felt a tap on his shoulder from behind him.
"I can hear you moving around up here, can't sleep?" Bachira whispered with a smile on his face. Rin turned over to look at him. "Go back to sleep and stop talking to me." Rin was quick to say back to him, but Bachira only climbed up the ladder to the bunk beds further.
"If you need help just say so, silly" Bachira added, basically ignoring what Rin said. Rin pushed him back "What do you think you're doing you idiot!?" Bachira put a hand over Rins mouth, "Shhh, you'll wake up the others!" Bachira whispered to him.
He continued climbing the ladder until he was able to crawl onto the bed next to Rin. "We should cuddle! I heard it can help with falling asleep" Rins eyes widened as he backed away, getting closer to the wall. "Are you insane?? I'm not doing that."
Despite saying this, Bachira only went to lay down in front of him. "Come on just this once? If it doesn't help I'll leave you alone, promise" He continued, still with a smile on his face.
Rin sighed as he rolled his eyes "Fine. Only to get you to leave me alone" Bachira giggled as he heard this. He scooted closer to Rin, then wrapped his arms around him. Rin took a few seconds to get used to it, but soon enough his arms were also around Bachira, and he'd be lying if he said he didn't enjoy it.
And it turns out, it did help, Rin almost instantly felt his eyelids get heavier. He looked down to Bachira, who was already asleep.
Rin brought a hand up and ran his fingers through Bachiras hair, admiring him. Even if he didn't admit it, Rin thought he looked beautiful like this. So beautiful that he kind of wanted to kiss him. Wait, was he really saying this? He didn't believe it, but... no one was looking right? It wouldn't hurt to try it out.
He lifted Bachira's bangs away from his face, leaned closer, and kissed his forehead. Yeah, he enjoyed it. But, maybe it was just the sleepiness. Rin brought his hand back to the back of Bachira's head to rest his fingers in his hair, before he eventually drifted off as well.
The next night, the same thing happened. Rin couldn't fall asleep no matter how hard he tried. Only this time, he knows why. Bachira just wouldn't leave his mind, sure he could wake him up and ask to cuddle again, but was he actually gonna do that? Of course not.
As time ticked away, Rin sighed heavily, knowing this would probably take a while. Until he felt the tap on his shoulder.
"I heard you again, do you need my help every time?" Bachira whispered, giggling quietly. "I don't need your 'help' and I never did, stop talking to me" Despite Rin saying this, Bachira once again climbed up the ladder to the bunk beds, and laid down in front of Rin. "Pleaseee?"
And that was all it took, Rin groaned and opened his arms for Bachira, he smiled and immediately went closer, wrapping his arms around Rin, while Rin did the same to him.
Just like last time, Bachira fell asleep almost immediately. Rin took a moment to look at him again, same thoughts in mind, he lifted up Bachira's bangs and kissed his forehead. It didn't take long for him to fall asleep after.
Eventually, this became routine for them every night, to the point the others were starting to notice as well. It wasn't much of a secret when someone would wake up and notice Bachira and Rin sleeping in the same bed together. But one night something different happened.
Rin shot awake, his eyes filled with tears. Must've been another nightmare (no specifics, but it had to do with a certain someone named Sae Itoshi). He tried to stop crying, but it was useless. The only option was to wait it out and hopefully fall asleep again.
He looked down at Bachira, who was resting peacefully in his arms. He couldn't help but feel a little comforted at the sight, and the feeling of him against his body. Rin buried his face in Bachira's hair and held him close.
Bachira blinked awake, the first thing he heard being the sound of Rin sniffling. He moved his head up to look at Rin, making it known he had woken up. Once Rin noticed, he quickly let go of Bachira, and turned to face away from him. "Rin? What's wrong?"
Bachira sat up and shook Rin's arm. Rin only moved further away from him. Bachira pulled Rin and moved him onto his back, "Are you okay? Tell me" Rin sat up and looked at Bachira, his eyes starting to get puffy. He didn't say anything, he only leaned in and hugged Bachira tightly.
Bachira was surprised at first, but he quickly wrapped his arms around Rin as well, running his fingers through his hair with one hand. Rin found it comforting, and after some time of the both of them sitting there, Rin fell asleep in Bachira's arms. When he noticed, he smiled and laid Rin down, his arms still around him. His head rested on Rin's chest as he slowly started to fall asleep.
