Work Text:
Hyrule can’t remember ever being hugged like this. He wishes he could enjoy it a bit more, but his recent nightmare hovers like a dragonfly in front of his eyes. He wants to flinch away, bat at it. He knows it wouldn’t do any good. So he clings tight to Sky’s sleeping shirt with his fingers and hangs on for dear life.
“I’m cursed,” he mumbles, unsure if Sky can even understand him, unsure if it matters. “I should never go home. Living is dangerous but death is worse. I can’t die, but how do I keep living?”
Sky’s warm hand strokes up and down Hyrule’s back, and the simple gesture just makes the tears come harder. Hyrule has never let his guard down so low before. “It’s okay. You’ll be okay. Don’t worry, we’ll make sure of it.”
