Work Text:
They’re on the couch, a nature documentary on the TV. Eddie stifles a yawn, watching idly as a lion takes down a gazelle on the screen before them.
Venom’s perched on his shoulder, just their head and a few tendrils out tonight. They’ve been clingy lately, reluctant to fully detach from Eddie, even as they’ve gained enough strength to do so. Eddie can’t blame them, because he would never let Venom go ever again if given the choice.
One tendril is shovelling a constant stream of tater tots into Venom’s mouth, and another is wrapped around Eddie’s torso, holding him close. He leans into the touch, blinking to keep his eyes open just a little longer.
It’s late, he was working well past midnight on a story he’s wrapping up, and he knows they should be asleep, they’ve got brunch date in the morning with Anne and Dan, both of whom were eager to welcome Venom back, but he can’t resist soaking up all the alone time with Venom that he can.
So, he takes a big gulp of ice water to perk himself back up, turning to look at Venom, who’s cheering as the prey is taken down, his heart bursting with affection as a tendril makes its way to his lips and feeds him a tot. Leaning back, he munches on it, content as he’s ever felt in his life.
