Jake was minding his own business. Continuing to give Joel crap for the dad music he put on for the ride to practice, giving Sutts shit for not knowing whoever Rouzy was talking about - Jake didn’t hear that conversation but he was always down for making fun of the old guys not being up on their references, asking Schenner about Huxley and if Huxley misses Jake not living with them. Just the typical Monday morning practice. Nothing special.
“Ope,” Scotty laughed as Jake tried to leave the locker room, “Mistletoe!”
Jake gave him a confused look and then looked up and yeah. There was a sprig of mistletoe. He shrugged and tried to keep going but Rouzy’s voice stopped him.
“Nope,” Jordan shook his head, “you gotta stay there until someone kisses you.”
“What?!” Jake’s eyes bugged out, “That’s not fair!”
“That’s the rules,” Saader grinned, walking right past Jake to the ice.
Jordan cackled and Scott smirked and said “No” as he walked past Jake.
Fine. Jake didn’t need Scotty’s stupid kiss. Someone else would kiss him. He’s very kissable.
Jordan walked right past him, chattering Robby’s ear off as Robby hobbled alongside him. It was his first time back at practice after his injury. Not playing or anything but he got the clear from Ray to sit on the bench and watch.
“Don’t even think about it,” Schenner said as he walked past and Jake was offended. This is how Schenner treats his Rookie in his hour of need??
One by one all his teammates trickled out right past him. One by one all his teammates refused to kiss him.
All but one.
“Hey, roomie,” he grinned as Joel stood up, “wanna do me a solid?”
Joel rolled his eyes and put on a show like it was a huge inconvenience to kiss Jake. Jake is a great kisser, thank you very much.
Jake was prevented from bitching at him about his response by Joel cupping the back of his head and kissing him softly. And Jake sunk into the kiss and whined when Joel pulled away.
“Get on the ice, 63.”
Jakey blinked rapidly and grinned, yelling, “We’re so doing that again, 30!”
