Work Text:
When Padmé looks at Luke, she sees Anakin. On the surface, it’s in the blue of his eyes and the sandy blond of his hair. That much is obvious.
But Padmé sees it in his curiosity as he assembles circuit boards with Anakin, making upgrades to Threepio and Artoo. It’s in his confidence as he proclaims to her he will be a great Jedi, practicing Obi-Wan’s lessons daily for trusting in himself and the Force. And it’s in his mischievousness as a pair of cookies float mysteriously through the air into the next room the moment her back is turned.
When Anakin looks at Leia, he sees Padmé. It’s in her brown eyes and long, dark hair, of course.
But it’s also in her kindness when she slips fruit from their basket into the hands of children looking for food in the city center of Theed. It’s in her sense of justice when she overhears of life in the Outer Rim during Padmé’s diplomatic meetings and asks what’s being done to help. And it’s in her rebelliousness when Anakin is called to her school yet again because she’s rallied her classmates into protesting for additional time during their lunch break.
