It had been a special day, full of excitement and energy, as the team dedicated time to the fans. Oscar had been enjoying every moment, he wasn’t a very expressive guy but he hoped he was conveying how much he was feeling a deep sense of connection to the people who supported them. As he was saying goodbye to a fan who just got her picture he didn’t notice right away what was happening behind and he was caught completely off guard when he looked over and saw Lando cradling a tiny baby in his arms. The sight of his boyfriend cooing softly, making silly faces, and drawing giggles from the baby sent a sudden rush of emotions coursing through him.
A warmth spread from his chest to his cheeks, and Oscar had to mentally steady himself. "Alright, calm down," he thought, his pulse quickening. "Not the time or place to be thinking about how adorable—okay, maybe even hot—your boyfriend looks holding a baby." He tried to shake off the intensity of the feelings swelling inside him, taking a slow breath as he composed himself. Yet, the sight was hard to ignore. Lando had always been effortlessly kind, but seeing him so natural and tender with the baby seemed to reveal a different side of him, one that tugged at something deep inside Oscar.
Lando came closer for the picture, the baby still in his arms, and Oscar had to remind himself to focus, quickly adjusting his expression into a smile as Lando lifted the infant up between them. They shared a laugh as the camera clicked, and for a moment, it felt like nothing else existed beyond the little bubble they found themselves in.
As they continued with the event, Oscar busied himself with fans, trying to stay present and engaged. But his eyes kept drifting back to Lando, who seemed to be thriving in the crowd’s attention, making everyone around him smile. Each time he saw Lando bringing joy to a child or sharing a genuine laugh with a fan, Oscar felt that warmth swell up again. He did his best to push it down, focusing on the interactions around him, but it wasn’t easy. Lando’s presence seemed to draw him in no matter how much he tried to keep his composure, and the emotions, intense and unfamiliar, continued to simmer just beneath the surface.

Once the event concluded, Oscar felt a mix of exhaustion and elation as they made their way to his apartment, given they were staying in England for the remainder of the break they both moved from Lando’s apartment in Monaco to Oscar’s here. It was a tricky thing to explain to their trainers when suddenly they couldn’t see them home, or at the supposed hotel Lando was staying in. The day had been filled with so much energy, and as they settled on the couch, Oscar couldn’t shake the butterflies still roaming around in his stomach. He pulled out his phone, scrolling through the pictures from the day. His heart raced when he found the shots of Lando with the baby, moments frozen in time that captured Lando’s genuine spirit.
As he continued to scroll, he couldn’t help but smile at the sight of Lando cradling the baby, his face a picture of pure joy. Each image was filled with laughter, and Oscar felt warmth flood through him.
Lando walked into the room, drying his hands on a towel, and Oscar quickly turned his phone screen away, hiding the thoughts that swirled in his mind. He couldn’t let Lando see how much this had affected him, how vulnerable it made him feel.
“What’s up? Cheating on me already?” Lando asked, plopping down beside Oscar, his eyes bright with curiosity.
Oscar chuckled nervously, trying to play it cool. “No, you idiot. Just looking at the pictures from today. You were really great with the kids,” he said, attempting to keep his voice light.
Lando’s face lit up as he leaned in closer, eager to see the photos. “Oh, show me!” he said, and Oscar couldn’t help but notice the excitement in Lando’s voice, the way it seemed to brighten the room.
As they scrolled through the pictures together, Oscar felt the tension in his chest start to ease. Lando laughed at a shot of himself with a group of kids wearing oversized McLaren shirts, and Oscar couldn’t help but join in, feeling the joy radiate between them.
“You were just so natural with them,” Oscar remarked, his voice sincere. “It’s like you were born to do that.”
“Kids are just so much fun. They have this energy that’s contagious,” Lando replied, glancing at Oscar, his expression softening. He paused on a particularly candid shot of Oscar, his mouth wide open in laughter as a group of kids surrounded him, all wearing McLaren caps. “Look at your face! You’re like the happiest person alive!” Lando exclaimed, grinning widely.
Oscar couldn’t help but laugh, shaking his head. “Yeah, well, I was just trying to keep up with you! You were a natural.”
Lando chuckled, a glimmer of mischief in his eyes. “You know, with all that practice today, we might as well start a family of our own!”
Oscar felt his cheeks heat up at the playful suggestion, but he quickly regained his composure, rolling his eyes as he nudged Lando. “Very funny! We’re not there yet, you goof.”
“Hey, I’m just saying you’re good with kids,” Lando replied, holding up his hands in mock surrender.
Oscar laughed, his heart soaring at the banter. “Let’s focus on being boyfriends first before we start thinking about families.”
“Fine, fine,” Lando relented, but Oscar could see the twinkle of playfulness still shining in his eyes.
As they settled back into their playful rhythm, Oscar felt a sense of peace wash over him. The earlier worries faded into the background, replaced by the warmth of laughter and the joy of simply being with Lando. In that cozy moment, surrounded by memories of laughter and love, Oscar felt certain of one thing: no matter what the future held, the bond they were building was something truly special, and he wouldn’t trade it for anything.
