Summary
“Miami?” Lando asks abruptly, half puzzled, half amused. He lifts his head up from Oscar’s shoulder, coming eye to eye with the boy who definitely looks like he’s been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
The thing is, the back traces have always been absentminded. Oscar does it without thinking, and Lando receives it the same way—welcomes it, without question.
“Yes,” Oscar says simply. “It’s Miami."
Lando breaks out in a laugh. “Jesus, you’re desperate for a race, aren’t you.”

Summary
The circles Oscar was rubbing into Lando’s back slowly began to transition into random shapes drawn by his fingertips as he felt Lando’s muscles start to relax. Oscar found the act of doodling the flowing lines and curves across Lando’s back soothing himself, and he felt his eyelids begin to droop before Lando’s voice startled him back awake.
“Suzuka.”
“Huh?” Oscar had been half-asleep and was sure he’d misheard.
“Suzuka,” Lando turned his head so his speech wasn’t muffled into the pillow as he repeated himself matter-of-factly. “That’s what you keep drawing on my back, right?”
“What?” Oscar hadn’t realized he’d been drawing anything at all. He’d just been tracing out a flowing pattern that felt natural. He kept moving his fingers in that pattern, paying a little more attention but not trying to change what he’d been doing. “Huh. Guess maybe I was.”

After the door closes on his shot at the championship following the Brazilian Grand Prix, Lando withdraws and stops answering his phone. Oscar goes to check on him, carrying not only his own concern but the worries of Lando's best friend. Lando is alive at least, but he hasn't slept in nearly two days.
