Her life changed that day in 2012 when the god of mischief walked past her station aboard the helicarrier. The consequence of that day - reassignment. That substation in the subarctic where the Capsicle was housed for a period of time. With the news of Loki's death, she fell into the waiting game: waiting for TPTB to decide that she'd learned her lesson, waiting to be brought home again, waiting to see which of the station's three inhabitants would crack up first.
When Loki appeared, striding towards her down one of the substation's hallways she thought she knew the answer. Turns out she didn't know as much as she thought about the two men she'd been protecting, the station she'd been guarding, or the god everyone always told her trust as far as she could throw.
Just like before, Loki left our agent to the consequences of her choices. In a post HYDRA world SHIELD needed all hands, so she was brought home again - only to be settled with a station but never a task. But the devil finds work for idle hands, as the saying goes. Seeking out everything alien, every bit of information potentially linked to something Asgardian, has a consequence.
