Summary
Vi nodded her head and rolled to the side, jaw clenched. Curiosity wouldn’t get her anything in Stillwater. Six years had proven her that.
924 didn’t seem to hold that same restraint.
“What, no darling neighbor greeting?"
Vi tensed up. 924’s voice was smooth, if a bit raspy from the twelve meals she spent in solitary. “Don’t really get those round here, kitty.”
There was a soft huff, the shuffle of fabric on stone as it sounded like she got up. “Noted.”
924 seemed to take the hint well enough, not pushing conversation and seeming perfectly content to lay silent. If Vi focused she could see the shadow of 924’s tail moving in the dim candlelight against the cell wall. She tried not to focus.
"Sleep well, pinkie."
Hopefully this little arrangement wouldn’t last long. It wasn’t doing Vi’s blood pressure any damn favors.
