Atsumu wasn’t the type, who felt down often, so when it happened, the whole team noticed. He didn’t provide the play style he used to, so even the coach realized. All of his teammates were worried, but neither of them wanted to nose – except Hinata. He did it only because he really liked the blond man, and wanted to help him any way he could, not to be nosey. He approached him at the end of practice as all the others, coaches included, quietly left the gym.
”Atsumu-san!” The ginger called out, announcing his presence. Atsumu jumped a bit in surprise, then turned his attention towards his teammate.
”Ah, Shouyo-kun, hi!” He greeted the shorter man with a huge, fake smile on his face. Hinata frowned. He hated fake smiles.
”What’s wrong, Atsumu-san?” He inquired, sitting down beside the other to the floor. For a few seconds, Atsumu debated to tell a lie. To tell that everything was totally okay – even though he was aware of everyone knowing it was not. The thing that persuaded him not to do it was the memory of a photo he saw in Shouyo’s locker – a photo of a small, ginger girl. Hinata waited for him patiently.
”I miss my brother, Shouyo-kun!” He said, feeling the heaviness lifting from his chest. Hinata hummed, nodding in understanding.
”I know how you feel. I miss my little sister as well,” he said, holding up a giggle because of a memory. ”There was a time in Brazil when I missed her so much I stayed in bed for days. My roommate totally freaked out.” He looked at Atsumu and laughter broke out of him, seeing the shock on his face. He knew that being that depressed was something no one could imagine of him. Thankfully, his laughter was contagious. After finishing laughing, Atsumu bumped his shoulder to Hinata’s.
”Thanks for listening, Shouyo-kun!” He thanked, smiling down at his friend.
”You’re welcome!” Hinata beamed back at him. ”I have a good guess what we will do during off season!” Atsumu nodded at that. He was 100% sure he wouldn’t leave Onigiri Miya their off season anytime soon.
