Work Text:
“Y/n!”
You quickly swiveled your head to look around for the source of the voice.
“Y/N!”
The voice sounded urgent, panicked. You were spinning in circles trying to find wherever it came from though.
“Y/N!”
You were nearly stumbling at this point because you were so dizzy. Suddenly, someone slammed a hand on the outside of the archway, startling you. It looked…blue- is that Tisha?
“Y-Y/n! Please come quickly! Shrimpo-”
She huffed and panted, trying to catch her breath and still muster out the words, but you already knew what she was going to say.
You groaned and raked your nails down your face, speed-walking over to her and leading her to a chair. She let out quiet huffs as she sat down.
“I’ll go get him…” you sighed, jogging out of the room to find him.
It wasn’t hard to find him, anyone could hear his screaming voice from anywhere. You winced as the yelling grew louder with each step you took, the sound grating on your ears. You swear you’re going to go deaf one day…
You turned the corner to see a very angry Shrimp attempting to bite Vee, who held him tightly as he struggled to get out, swiping at Finn who snickered a few feet away. Must’ve been more jokes…Sprout was facepalming, Rodger was rolling his one eye, Glisten was cringing in disgust, Boxten was worried, etc.
You let out a sigh as Finn cracked another joke about how mad Shrimpo was, and in return Shrimpo screeched and scratched at Vee’s arns, damaging the metal. She told Finn he was lucky she wasn’t super mad right now. Alright, you’ve seen enough.
“Shrimpo! What is going on now!?”
Everyone looked towards your direction, little bits of relief visible in their eyes. Shrimpo whipped his head towards you, his movements stilling if only for a moment, before coming back full force. Vee yelled out in anger and let Shrimpo go, the former lunging at Finn and tackling him with a hiss.
While Vee examined her arms and cringed at the damage, you grabbed Shrimpo by the back of his shirt and yanked him off Finn, dragging him across the floor to who knows where. You pointedly ignored his complaining and instead focused on getting him away from the other toons so he could calm down.
Shrimpo scratched at his shirt, trying to reach you, but the odd angle made it impossible for him to stretch past his clothes. He stopped struggling eventually, huffing loudly, and constantly as he was pulled back around the corner.
Once you were far enough away, you dropped him, before pulling him up by the neckline of his shirt to face you.
“What have I said about being aggressive with the others?”
He glared at you, but you stared at him with gray and hollow eyes, effectively making him shrink up, although reluctantly.
“...To not.”
“Correct. And what did you do just now?”
He gritted his teeth, embarrassed, and looked away from your piercing gaze.
“Got aggressive with the others…”
“Exactly. Now don’t do it again today.”
You set him down again, letting him stand up and brush himself off. He knew this was “for his own good”, but it didn’t make it any easier. Old habits, especially ones done your whole life, are hard to break.
He’d get there, eventually.
