Summary
It was well past midnight when Tae-ui slipped through the darkened corridors, his heart pounding as he moved swiftly, careful to avoid the watchful eyes of the maids stationed along the hallways. He was done with the quiet, insidious control that seemed to choke him every time Ilay was near. Tonight was different; tonight, he was finally getting out.
The last few weeks had been a battle of endurance, a constant struggle against Ilay’s suffocating presence. No matter where he went, Ilay’s eyes always found him, watching with that unyielding, possessive gaze that left him feeling raw, vulnerable, exposed. He knew he should have broken free of this a long time ago, but Ilay’s hold on him wasn’t something he could easily escape.
As he neared the exit, he felt a spark of hope ignite in his chest. Just a few more steps, and he’d be free—free of the twisted bond that had chained him to Ilay, free of the relentless pursuit that seemed to follow him wherever he went.
But as he reached for the door, a hand shot out, gripping his wrist with iron strength.
“Tae-ui.”
