Summary
Gary has worked with so many new pop stars over the years, the vast majority of them vacuous and totally uninterested in the craft itself, only there to make money and get their faces on TV. Gary can tell Mark isn't like that, or at least he isn't solely like that.
He is, however, incredibly annoying.
OR:
Gary's a jaded lyricist, fed up with helping talentless starlets and getting nothing in return. Mark's a struggling singer-songwriter who really doesn't want his help.
