Work Text:
“See you around, Buck.”
He would never have thought to call him by his nickname one day. If anyone had ever told him that, he would have laughed at them but here he is now. He walks out of the loft. He tries hard not to cry right away and also considers for a quick second if he should turn around and take everything back he just said a few moments ago (as if this would be that easy, right?) but no, he walks away and doesn't dare to look back. It's for the best. For him. For Ev... Buck.
Hearing the other man declaring his love for him - to him, not exactly with these three words though, frightened him, ngl. How can Buck love him? He was clearly just confused. After all, he was his first, so obviously he can't be his last. It's simply too good to be true. When did ever good things happen to him? He's not the star in a freaking romcom (but he really wishes he would be). So, to protect himself, his heart for the inevitable, he had to end their relationship right there. Buck is strong and will be over it soon; at least that's what he tells himself.
Lost in thoughts with this inner monologue, he was on his way home but suddenly he saw two headlights way too close to him and oh no…. BAM!
Tommy wakes up. He's startled, shaking, confused and sweating but not in a good way. He looks around and finds the other side of the bed empty. He looks to the other side and there is his alarm clock still ringing with this obnoxious sound. Time to get a new one, really, he thinks. He turns it off and hears some muffled sounds. He walks out of the bedroom and towards the noises which apparently come from the kitchen. And to his delight there's Evan making breakfast, a lot of breakfast; it smells delicious. Tommy leans at the door frame and lets out a relieved sigh which causes the other man to turn around in surprise. He's smiling with that adorable smile at his boyfriend and says “Good morning birthday boy! You're up early. I was going to surprise you with that. ” he gestures at all the dishes he made.
Tommy smiles and crosses the kitchen towards his boyfriend. He hugs him and presses a soft kiss against his birthmark first then another to his lips. “Thank you, Evan. I love you.” He kisses him again and continues “I'm beyond happy to see you here because you'll never guess from what a nightmare I just woke up”
