Work Text:

“Please, Captain, not in front of the Klingons.”

Spock’s softly whispered words not a denial, only a promise of something more to come. In private.

*

The heated kissing started as soon as they reached the Captain’s quarters.

It did not matter that they were still behind the Great Barrier, their journey back home uncertain at best. Then again, there was no longer any doubt they could not breach the Barrier once again having come through it without, well too much trouble.

But this wasn’t about that, about anything else but the two of them.

Kirk, having gotten a good scare. The former knowledge that he would die alone coming to mind when the other two had been beamed away leaving Kirk all alone with a very powerful enemy hell bent on killing him.

Not even the supposed loss of Sybok was able to spoil this, precious reunion for Spock. His brother having given his life to save the rest of them. A noble death, if Sybok indeed was dead or perhaps, he had ascended to a higher plane? The proof was still out there.

And so now here the two were, in each other’s arms. A brief respite before it was time to get back to work.

The uniforms discarded, their arms around each other, their lips locked most passionately, lovingly. The two lovers familiarising themselves with the other without any hurry. It had been a while after all with everything having happened.

Letting go reluctantly of the pliant flesh of his lover simply to breathe, Jim’s voice was coarse as he spoke to Spock.

“That… that was perfection.”

Spock let out a low chuckle, something reserved mostly for his partner, Jim.

“I would hardly call it that Jim, but indeed, it feels good. To feel you like I do.”

Admitting to his feelings never easy, but with his partner, it was easy, it was, allowed.

“Well, it would have felt good too. You know before, in front of the Klingons.”

Jim laughed. As putting on a good show especially in front of the rogue Klingon Captain had felt rather titillating at that moment. Him having rushed right to Spock, grabbing Spock close to himself.

“Think of the diplomatic ramifications of it all if we indeed had.”

Spock truly was in on the joke. The humour certainly present in the stoic Vulcan these days, ever since his resurrection it had been. Mostly around Jim though.

“The headlines on the intergalactic news network for sure!” Jim piled on.

They both laughed for a spell. It was rather thrilling to think of it for sure, the idea of what they could have done earlier. And yet, they reserved all of this, emotional display for their private quarters. Well, most of it anyway.

And so here they were in private now, their time and their bodies only for each other.

“Maybe next time?”

“Next time, Jim.”

The kissing ensued, until it wasn’t nearly enough, the love overflowing in many ways for the two.
