Work Text:

The kids were walking home from the bus stop after a long day at Kinloch. They walked in their group talking about the work and about how they would spend their Christmas break.

Paris opened the door, being greeted by a warm aroma of gingerbread cookies. A few seconds of quiet as the air was kind and welcoming. Then silence was broken by a fit of childish laughter for the common room, the laugh was recognizable at Monty’s.

The kids sneakily poked their heads on the doorframe to watch, it was exciting to see their normally hardworking and stressed parents relax.

”Ahaha! You look so hilarious!”

She laughed pointing at Mother. Which was tied with a ribbon. His arms tied behind his back in a neat bow and his legs tied together.

”Bah! Just help me out of here for bloody’s sake!”

He whined, rather pathetically, a small grin on his face.

”Nope! I’m taking a picture!”

Monty said, about to take her phone out before Sydney spoke abruptly.

”Already took one!”

Mother groaned, flopping on the floor.

”I hate this.”

Paris laughed, walking over and untying him.

Cairo laughed, speaking.

”Could we help decorate?”

Brooklyn, Sydney, and Kat (Sydney elbowed her to say it with them) responded with a innocent;

”Pretty please?”

They said, drawing out the “e” in please

Monty nodded with a grin, Handing them plastic buckets of ornaments.

”Hurry up! Chop-chop!”

They laughed.

Quickly getting to work on different parts of the tree.

Mother smiled softly and tired, the kids spent, Brooklyn and Kat sleeping on the couch, Paris playing chess with Cairo, Cairo’s…Trying. And Sydney is watching a crime documentary.

He drank hot chocolate as he leaned over the sink, Monty soon accompanied him, a gingerbread cookie pinched between her teeth and another one in her hand which she handed to Mother.

”Another fun but chaotic Christmas. You’ve raised some nice kids.”

Monty said with a smile.

But mother responded with a gentle, comforting, and sweet grin.

”No. We raised them. Together.”

He looked at them, their sweet wonderful kids.
