Chapter Text

It was a warm summer night. Leo was eating a taco on the ramp in their living room.

He was a little bored, most of his brothers were out grabbing a slice, and Leo had decided to stay behind.

Well, technically it wasn't his decision to stay behind.

He took a massive bite of his taco.

It was Raph who had inevitably decided that he was to remain home. Which under normal circumstances wouldn't have stopped him, but sadly he had April, Dad, and even Donnie's begrudgingly approval to ditch him.

Leo pouted, it wasn't fair! He was totally healed enough to go out for a pizza run!   He took another small bite, this one was mostly lettuce and beans.

It's been a whole two weeks since the invasion! Leo was like ninety percent healed by now!

A rustling noise, accompanied with the sound of pots clanging against the floor.

Excitement pulsed through Leo as he wondered who it could be.

Oooh Mikey will not be happy!

Leo sprung to his feet, he shoved the last bits of toco down his throat, choking it down like a fish.

He tiptoed to the kitchen, blood spiking with adrenaline, as he rounded the corner, peaking past the wall to see…

“Uhh Mikey?”

The box shell turtle froze. Slowly, he turned around to face the bearer of the voice, pizza slice hanging out of his mouth

Quickly, Mikey grabbed the slice from his mouth and hid it behind his back.

“Oh, hey Leo!” He squawked, “what are you doing here?” He put on his ‘innocent’ smile that he seemed to be sure would work.

“Oh you know, ditching the boring ol’ pizza run because i- wait, isn't that my deluxe- super-rare-only-ever-sold-once-vip- Jupiter-jim pizza slice!?” Leo’s jaw dropped from the sheer audacity.

Mikey looked like a deer in the headlights “umm no…?” He tried.

“Do you have any idea how long it took me to get a hold of just that one slice!?” Leo flailed his arms around wildly. “It was one-of-a-kind!” tears streamed down his cheeks.

Mikey retracted a bit into his shell, his fingers taped together nervously, “oops.”

“Ok that's it, you know what this means.”

Mikey's eyes widened in fear. “No, you wouldn't.”

“You leave me no choice.” Leo smirked.

“Looks like I'm gonna  have to execute my ‘older brother privileges’™” Leo posed with one hand on his hip, and the other pointing at Mikey.

“Noooooo!!!” Mikey fell to his knees, utterly defeated. One hand raised to his chest, curled into a fist. “Please Leo I'm sorry!”

Leo chuckled, “you brought this upon yourself little brother .”

“now…” Leo trailed off, placing a hand on his chin, contemplating how he should abuse his newfound power first.

“Clean my room.” Leo decided, folding his arms smugly.

“Curses to you Leo!” Mikey shouted, but still begrudgingly turned towards Leo's train car. “Your room's filthy!!”

“Hey!”

Leo sauntered up to the kitchen counter, he heaved himself up onto it, ignoring the ache in his shell as he leaned against the wall, legs dangling off the counter.

He closed his eyes, letting the quietness calm him. His shell still ached though, and it was making it unreasonably difficult to relax.

He plopped down on his side, accidentally pushing a few things off the counter. Woops , he bit his lip, should he pick it up? Inevitably decided against it, as the cold touch of the marble was oddly comfortable.

Man, he'll just pick it up later. He closed his eyes again, a satisfied smile crossing his lips.

“Leo, what the fuck is this?” Mikey announced his presence.

Leo lifted his head, he spotted Mikey standing in the entrance to the kitchen. He was holding a mysterious glowing sock.

“Uuuuh what's that?” Leo narrowed his eyes.

“That's what I want to know!” Mikey shrieked. His eyes shifted, looking the comfy countertop up and down, “why are you lying on that?”

“Doesn't matter,” Leo dismissed, pushing himself off the surface. Leo rolled onto the floor “ ow” he rubbed the side of his head.

Springing to his feet, he carefully examined said magic sock. Upon further inspection he found a little glowing orb inside. He grasped it, it felt oddly warm

“Where did you find this?” Leo held the thing up to his eye.

“Your room.” Mikey chirped.

“Well I guess it's mine now,” Leo shrugged, shoving it in his fanny pack.

Mikey hummed, his eyes searching the room before focusing on the mess Leo forgot to clean up on the floor.

Mikey spluttered, “wha- Leo! Did you knock my stand mixer off the counter?” He seethed.

Leo went cold, a single bead of sweat rolled down his forehead. “Whaaaa- haha, moi?” Leo placed a hand if his plastron. “Pft uhh ha nooooooo–?” He tried.

“You are so dead if it's broken!!” Mikey bent down to pick it up, just as his hands grazed the mixer, it began to glow a bright blue.

In a flash, the mixer floated back onto the countertop, as though it was falling in reverse.

Mikey backed up, eyes wide, hands held out.

Leo looked down at his fanny pack, it was softly glowing blue, a similar color to his Nimpo.

“Whoaaaa”

They both gawked at each other.

“That was so cool!” Mikey chirped. “Leo, how did you do that?” His eyes sparkled.

Leo rubbed the back of his neck, “wasn't me hermano menor.” Leo reached for his fanny pack.

“But it was the exact same color as your Nimpo!” Mikey shrieked excitedly.

Leo unzipped his pack, pulling out the blue orb, he held it out for Mikey to see. The smaller turtles peered at it curiously.

“I think this thing did that.” He rolled it around in his palm, in response the little orb glowed slightly, a soft dim blue light formed around it, whisps swirled circled it before dissolving into the air.

“Whoaaaaa” they both gasped.

Low closed his fist, before shoving the thing back into his fanny pack.

“Well that's enough mystic magic stuff for now, don't you have a room to clean Mikey?” Leo smirked.

Mikey sighed, closing his eyes. “Fineee” he groaned. “But find a real chair to sit on this time” he raged, turning his shell on Leo as he made his way back to Leo's room.

Leo backed up, hands held up in surrender “ok, ok, fine, sheesh.” He murmured before collapsing into a nearby chair.

Wonder where that marble came from… he sighed, and more importantly, what was it doing in my room? He squinted, holding the marble to the light fixture “what are you little guy?”
