„Bucky“
His name sounded so soft from her lips, so relaxed and full of love.
“Bucky. Buck, honey”
Only she could say his name in such a way, make him feel like he could fly. The sun was shining onto her face, making her eyes glitter and enhancing the radiance of her wide smile and even though he couldn’t feel his body, felt weightless, he could feel that he was smiling back at her.
“James, James”
Oh, she only called him that when she was teasing him.
“James! James! James! Please, honey!”
Or when something was seriously wrong. Why did her voice suddenly sound so urgent?
“JAMES!”
His mind was thrust back into reality so abruptly, he could almost feel a physical force. He wasn’t basking under the sun with her anymore but standing in the middle of a battle scene that was dissolving into chaos.
“James! Bucky, honey, please talk to me! Answer me! Are you all right? Are you here with me?”
He looked to the ground in front of them where the body of the hydra agent who had spoken his trigger sequence lay, bullet holes in his chest, her gun next to him. She had dropped it in order to gently close her hands around Bucky’s face. Her hands felt grounding.
“Y- yeah, yeah, I’m here, I’m alright”
Huh, weird, that-
“That should not have happened”
