Written because i love my girl failure Jay. <3
There’s not a lot of Lacey Games fics on here, especially not ship ones. So here’s a multi-chapter one about my favorite ship ever, Jaisey!!

In my universe, this story takes place a couple years before Jay’s Skating Game and Lacey’s Makeup Parlor. They become friends in high school, then form Lacey and the Jammers in their junior year. After Jay dies, Lacey breaks off contact with Maisie and then Lacey’s wardrobe, Lacey’s diner, and Lacey’s pet shop happen.

Chapter Text

Jay will tell you she's not a superstitious person. She doesn’t like to believe in ghosts, or fortunes, or tarot cards, or true love.

But here she is, sitting in her friend Maisie's room with her and their other friend Lacey, slouched over a chair while Lacey watches in anticipation and excitement as Maisie ‘tells her fortune.’ All she’s doing is waving her hands around some battery powered glowing plastic ball.

This isn't exactly her idea of fun, not at all. But her friends enjoy it, so she's there anyway.

"Ooh, I'm getting a sign. let's see..." Maisie says as she closes her eyes.

‘I’m getting a sign’ my ass, Jay thinks.

She really doesn’t get how anyone could enjoy this. It’s stupid. She’d much rather go to the skate park, or play Pokemon on her Game Boy.

Her eyes wander around Maisie’s room. Her walls are painted a light pink, like her hair. Her bed has black bedding and star pillows. A glasses case sits on her nightstand, and on the shelves above her bed, she has a stack of tarot cards, a dreamcatcher, and several various crystals. Some in jars, some standalone.

‘Mae-Mae’s not a very hard person to shop for’ she thinks as she stares at the zodiac chart on her wall.

Her other friend, Lacey, on the other hand, is a lot more difficult to figure out. She joined the friend group about a year ago, after Maisie saw her sitting alone and suggested she and Jay join her for lunch. She’s a nice girl. She’s a talented singer and has pretty teal hair. There’s just something off about her. Her eyes are always a bit bloodshot with dark bags. She’s either a stoner or an insomniac. Maybe both..

She’s also really secretive. Whenever they try to hang out at her house, she’ll say no and won’t even give a reason. It took a few months to even get her number. Honesty, it’s a bit concerning..

“Jay..”

But she tries to ignore it. She values their friendship regardless.

“Jay!”

Ah, shit.

Maisie raised her voice.

Jay fell asleep.

She groggily opened her eyes. When did she fall off her chair..?

“Damn girl! I know you don’t like doing fortune reading, but you didn’t have to fall asleep! Meanie,” Maisie scolds, though there’s no heat behind her words.

“Yeah Jay! Maisie did a really good job with my fortune too! She told me I’m gonna be famous and be a makeup artist! She also said-“

“Yeah, Yeah. That’s great Lacey. But if you don’t mind, I’m gonna go back to sleep, g’night-“

“Well I mind! Get up, as punishment for falling asleep I’m doing your fortune next.”

“Mae-Mae noooo..” before she could protest, Maisie was already picking her up.

Contrary to her feminine appearance, Maisie was quite a strong girl. Jay blushed a little as Maisie’s hands met her waist.

Why am I blushing..? I’m not a perv..

Maisie sets her down in front of the ‘magic ball’. Maisie sits on the other side of it.

“Alright. With the power of this her crystal ball, I will tell one fortune for your future, your career, and your love life. Let us close our eyes and concentrate-“

“I’m not doing that shit.”

“Jay! Close your eyes or I’m not sharing my Fruit Stripe gum with you for the next week.”

Nooo! Not her Fruit Stripe!! She loved that stuff, even if the flavor only lasted a few seconds.

Reluctantly, she closed her eyes.

After a few seconds (that seemed like minutes to her), Maisie gasps. “I’m seeing a vision. Are you seeing it too Jay?”

“No-“

“Yes. Yes you are,” clearly she wasn’t putting up with Jay’s attitude right now.

“I’m seeing.. hmmm.. your future…

Make sure to wear your helmet, Jay! Without proper gear, you’ll end up in a nasty skateboard fall.”

That wasn’t no damn fortune! That’s common sense.

“Your career.. Follow your dreams. The predictions say you’ll be a good drummer or skater.”

Once again, not a fortune. Maisie just knows her.

“And love..” Maisie lets out a soft laugh.

Jay’s face heats up.

“You’ll have a romance, but maybe with someone you don’t expect.”

“Ooh, Jay’s gonna get a crush~” Lacey teases.

“No I’m not. Maisie, you know I don’t do romance stuff.” Jay says.

“But Jay, dear, like I said, unexpected! Maybe it’ll be someone like… Carter.”

“The dude that poured milk on my head in 6th grade?! I fuckin’ hate Carter, dude!”

“Exactly!! That would be unexpected for sure!!” Lacey laughs.

“Sounds like a totally hot enemies-to-lovers romance novel!” Maisie replies, laughing as well.

“Shut the fuck up!!” Jay snorts.

The three’s laughter stops after a bit.

Maisie wipes a tear from her eye and puts a hand on Jay’s shoulder.

“Keep an open mind, Jay.”

Notes:

No offense to anyone with the name carter by the way. I just really hate the fucking name Carter.
