Ibuki Mioda was a cupid. She was used to putting two people together, helping them know each other and be responsible for them, making every possible (and sometimes the impossible) thing to form that couple. Therefore, as a cupid, she should be a love expert, both platonic and romantic, only then would her mission be successful.
But now, in her room, lying on her bed while staring at the ceiling, Ibuki had questions about herself. She started asking quietly how love would be. What's it like to fall in love? Feeling the butterflies in your stomach, as well as the chill down your spine when that person comes closer and closer to you; getting excited when someone mentions their name, or realizing you're smiling while thinking about them; falling harder day after day for every single detail of someone, even their imperfections.
“You never felt that?”, a colleague asked one day. Ibuki denied, confused when he seemed shocked.
So, this makes her atypical? Not liking someone this way is what makes her weird? Is she different, somehow?
“Everyone finds love someday, you'll just need to wait for your turn”
Tears were getting her eyes wet, going down her cheeks and falling on the pillow, one by one. She didn't want to be weird. Did not want to be different. Ibuki just wants to feel like everyone. Oh, God, why hasn't she fallen in love yet? The Creator surely has another plan for her… Maybe. If she has never been in love, it will surely happen, right? She just needed to wait.
Ibuki Mioda was a cupid. She was used to putting two strangers together and making impossible things so they could meet love, praying silently to be in their place. Because, actually, Ibuki didn't know what love was.
And Ibuki didn't know that she would never know what love was.
