    This is a story about the negotiations surrounding the Federation Cardassian treaty, not long before the beginning of TNG. Characters have to deal with a great deal of trauma negotiating a peace treaty after having been mistreated in Cardassian detention.

    As is typical when dealing with the Cardassians there's a good bit intrigue, assassination attempts, and complex politics.
