Scar runs, faster than he’s ever ran, Lizzie’s hand in his.
They’re going to get out of here, whatever it takes.
They run. Past the cherry blossoms, around Lizzie’s cottage, over the river. Weaving through trees and ruined areas and overgrown gardens with statues. Through the sunflower fields and by Trader Scar’s and over the stone walls, avoid the cliff where- no, he won’t think about that.
All around them, the world is crumbling. The shadow people Watch quietly, curiously, and Scar wonders if he’s gone mad, just a little bit.
Lizzie looks at him, and Scar sees her fear.
