Chapter Text
Izuku laughed to himself. Although she told herself as well as him that she wouldn't fall asleep, she ended up doing just that.
The credits of the movie the class had just been watching slowly traveled up the screen as Izuku watched on from the couch. The rest of the class had opted to start heading to bed, leaving just him, a sleeping Ochako, and Iida watching over them.
"Are you sure, you want to watch the credits?" the class president questioned.
Izuku nodded lightly. "Yeah, I just this part of the soundtrack so once it finishes I'll probably head to bed as well."
Iida walked around the couch, adjusting the blanket him and Izuku had laid over Ochako, who was sitting up when she finally gave into the fatigue and drifted off into a dream land. He gave a final farewell accompanied by his signature hand gesture before leaving the main room to the halls.
Izuku continued to watch the credits, or really just listen to the music, and every few moments he found himself looking over at Ochako, sometimes without even noticing. She was just sitting there sleeping, why couldn't he get his mind off of her? She wasn't even doing anything!
Granted, even in other situations this was a problem he so often faced. There weren't many people he talked to it about, mainly because he didn't want to start throwing around the idea of him having feelings for Ochako to just anyone. People talked quickly, especially those in Class 2-A.
But he still had his closer friends that he trusted, and when it came to both the male and female perspective, he trusted Iida and Tsu the most. Out of all the things they have ever told him, the same line from Tsu continuously rang in the back of his mind day to day.
"Ha, it seems like you've come with a case of OCD, Ochako-Compulsive Disorder!"
"I don't have 'Ochako-Compulsive Disorder' or whatever..." Izuku crossed his arms, refusing to admit the claim by Tsu that Ochako Uraraka would fit the place of 'obsessive' in obsessive-compulsive disorder.
'Or do you?' he felt his internal voice question himself.
Normally he would've been able to push the thoughts aside, but recently he's found himself questioning those very thoughts and he felt like he just couldn't get the whole thing off of his mind. It didn't help his case that he was starting to get tired himself, and as each second passed, his will to actually get up and make his way to his room to go to sleep dwindled more and more.
Izuku tried to block out the string of thoughts that were flying through his head caused by a mix of everything, but the more he tried that, the worse it got, and the more tired it made him.
Sometimes people did things knowing there was going to be consequences, proceeding anyway because they were just too tired not to. Izuku was now one of those people as his head finally rested itself on Ochako's shoulder.
'Thank God...' Ochako thought to herself, jolting awake after having a terrifying falling dream she was glad to be out of.
She looked at the clock, seeing that it was the middle of the night, 2:01AM. Laughing to herself, she remembered what Izuku had told her about falling asleep, wondering the kind of conversation they were going to have later that morning about how that exact thing happened.
"Right Izuk-AH!" Ochako turned her head, still half asleep and just happening to remember that Izuku was sitting next to her when the movie was still playing.
Except he was still actually there, and laying on her shoulder.
"Woah, huh?!" Izuku shot up, looking around. Luckily he didn't still have Blackwhip or things might've gone haywire.
He locked eyes with Ochako, a blush immediately rising to his entire face. The same thoughts from the night before returned immediately, like his thought process now was linking up right where it left off before he fell asleep. The two were silent for a moment, unsure of what to say to each other.
"I...I'm sorry! For falling asleep on your shoulder! I got so tired all of a sudden and I just..." Izuku sighed, feeling embarrassed, "...I kind of just gave into things..."
"I-" Ochako immediately clapped a hand over her mouth before she could get a single word out.
"What? What is it?" Izuku asked, scared that he made her upset by doing something wrong, more heat rising to his face.
She slowly removed her hand and looked straight down. Her lips trembled.
"I liked it...you don't have to apologize..." she mumbled.
Before anything, Izuku mentally sighed a breath of relief, now knowing she at least wasn't angry at him. But everything turned around when he processed the thing she actually did say. And then he spoke without processing what he was about to say.
"Can I do it again?"
'What is wrong with you Midoriya?! Control yourself!' Izuku chided himself. However, something felt liberating about at least being honest with what he was thinking, instead of keeping it bottled up and going in circles in his mind about every minute detail of every thought.
Ochako's eyes widened and her jaw locked. She stared at Izuku in silence for an admittedly uncomfortable amount of time. He started to get worried that he made her upset again and almost fell down yet another rabbit hole of thoughts, before Ochako slowly nodded, readjusting herself back to where she was before waking up, her eyes still slightly widened.
Now it was Izuku's turned to be shocked again, but seeing her nod as a confirmation enough, he shimmied over to get closer to her, slowly lying his head on her shoulder like it was a fragile glass surface, not wanting to break it. With them both awake, and the silence among them, things actually didn't seem...
Scary?
His mind was racing, but this time he wasn't giving in to the urge to freak out. He just sat with what was happening in that moment. And he felt peaceful. His head had found the perfect spot on her shoulder where it was comfortable, and his side just barely brushed up against hers, although over time he unintentionally ended up moving a bit closer to her, their bodies just barely pressing up against each other.
At first they were finding it difficult to fall asleep, but as neither of them were willing to say much of anything due to both being messes, they sat with the silence and eventually fell back asleep.
Rest assured they would get their next dose of awkwardness when, hours later, they awoke to the sight of Iida standing over them, his face indicating the endless questions he had for the two of them.
