Work Text:
Jeremiah is sitting and there is fear in his eyes, even though he is trying to pull himself together. Bruce is frowning by the second. He can't believe that the plan has failed, and Jim and Harvey Bullock don't know what to do. Everyone is worried, afraid. Jerome sits in the middle and grins. He's having fun.
Bruce and Jeremiah tense up when Jerome gets up from his seat to approach Jeremiah. Bruce clenched his fists and watched the two of them. Jerome was about to say something when a young female voice came from the crowd:
"FATHER!"
The crowd gasps. Jim stiffens slightly and his eyes widen slightly. Jerome's smile suddenly disappeared from his face and he slowly turned towards the voice. Bruce looked at Jerome in surprise, thinking that they were addressing him, but seeing his reaction, Bruce turned his attention to Jeremiah, and realized from the look on Jeremiah's face that the appeal was to him not to Jerome.
She was a pale girl with shoulder-length red hair. She had gray-green eyes, a black dress, and a gray coat on top. Behind her stood a young guy, also red-haired and also pale. He has dark glasses on his eyes and is wearing a white coat. He was squeezing the shoulders of a girl who was looking straight into Jerome's eyes. There was fear in her eyes and something else that was not familiar..
Jerome narrowed his eyes and there was something familiar about them. He saw something familiar in the girl's eyes. Remembering her words, it suddenly dawned on him and he turned his head in the direction of Jeremiah, who was silently looking at them and then looked at Jerome, frowning.
Silence. Jerome didn't say anything. Bruce stared at Jeremiah in shock, and Jerome froze in place, as if it was difficult for him to understand something. What was that?
Jerome looked at them again.
After looking closely, he understood.
Twins.
They're twins.
Time seemed to pass very slowly. Jerome was thinking. He was thinking. He couldn't believe it.
"Are these your children?"
He asked Jeremiah. There seemed to be uncertainty in his tone. As if he still didn't believe it. He doesn't believe in what he sees in front of him.
Jeremiah didn't answer. Naturally, but you can see the fear in his eyes. Fear of Jerome, that's for sure, but there was also fear for them. They were Jeremiah's children.
So young. They're so small..
They're so scared..
Jerome narrowed his eyes, and glancing at one of his "followers", he nodded towards the two children, and the man nodded and walked off the stage. Jim realized this and quickly ran towards the children. Fortunately, Jim managed to grab the children to himself, covering them, he punched the man in the face, causing him to fall to the floor with a painful groan.
"No! Jerome! No! Don't touch the children!"
The girl gasped from the slight horror on her face, and the guy frowned under his glasses, but you can easily see a fraction of anxiety in his movements.
Jerome grinned and lifted the remote control.
"Don't you get it, Jim?"
Bruce frowned, realizing that he was now manipulating Jim with his remote control, and precisely for his own pleasure, and in order to get these children. Jeremiah watched in silence, though he tensed slightly.
Jim didn't budge. It was another stupid Jerome game, but it was very dangerous..
Despite this, he does not back down.
Jim heard the whispers of a girl and a boy:
"Vedakur, please. He's going to kill him!"
Vedakur. Is the boy's name Vedakur?
Jim glanced at them out of the corner of his eye, the boy gesticulating with his hands. Oh..
"Come on, Jim! Give me these children if you want to save others!"
Jerome grinned and watched. Jim turned his head back to Jerome with a frown, but didn't budge.
Jerome's smile disappeared from his face again.
"Jerome. Don't touch my children."
Jerome looked at Jeremiah. Bruce, who had been silent all the time, was surprised again. After all, are these guys his children? Wait a minute! HOW IS THAT?!
Jeremiah doesn't look older than his age. He doesn't look like some kind of father, he looks like a teenager who moonlights at his company!
Jerome narrowed his eyes.
"Oh... is it true? Do you also have the audacity to hide my nephews from me?"
"They're not your nephews, Jerome. Not anymore."
Jerome just giggled at Jeremiah's words.
"Oh, really? Look at them!"
Jerome pointed to the children Jim is still protecting. Jeremiah frowned.
"They're my copy, you know?"
Jerome was laughing. Jeremiah tensed, but felt anger at Jerome's words. Bruce was silent, and did not know what to say, but he felt that Jeremiah was beginning to get annoyed.
"No! They are my children, and they can have nothing to do with you!"
Jerome laughed for a few more seconds and suddenly, his smile widened. He raised the microphone to his lips and said:
"They're your kids, but.."
He looked at them, and Jim tensed.
"but, the genes are 'mine'."
