Summary
In the quiet town of Paz, where autumns seem longer and memories weigh heavier than fallen leaves, Ryūnosuke Akutagawa leads a life marked by silence, secrets and a constant struggle to protect his younger sister, Gin, from the strict morals of their parents. Across the street from the ever-melting lamppost is the house that once housed his childhood best friend, Atsushi Nakajima, and now stands empty as an echo of the happy days Ryūnosuke would rather bury.
But when rumours of new inhabitants emerge and a light bulb is switched on in the old house, Ryūnosuke is confronted with a range of feelings he had buried along with his memories of Atsushi: longing, curiosity, and a desire for freedom he has never felt so strongly before. As he tries to balance his studies, family expectations, and caring for Gin, Ryūnosuke discovers that the past doesn't stay dormant for long, and that the choices he makes could change the course of his and his sister's lives forever.
