Genuinely didn’t know what to write for this prompt tbh

Work Text:

“I don’t think we should wake ‘im yet.”

“How else can I eat this!?”

“I dunno… Maybe we can use his sword.”

Aki’s eyes itched like hell as soon as he opened them. He shifted under cold hospital sheets, grunting as pain shot up his arm. He raised his head, and spotted the IV in his unaffected arm, and turned to the other wrapped up in a sling.

As much as Aki would’ve liked to know what the hell happened, he was currently trying to figure out the two devils next to his hospital bed.

It was like a mini massacre, as Denji and Power sat there like deers caught in the headlights, hands and mouths drenched in what looked like viscera. Red dripped on their white shirts, and tiny, ruby-like stones were scattered all over the floor and their laps.

The three blinked at each other, before Power spoke.

He ate your ‘Get Well’ fruit.” She pointed right at Denji.

“You ate some too!” Denji accused, clenching his hands and making red drip from his fists.

“Did not.”

“Did too! It’s on your face!”

“And what if it were blood?”

“That makes it worse, stupid!”

They began to bicker, and Aki’s eyes slid to the mauled pomegranate staining his hospital sheets. It looked like a big organ, cracked open and bloody, with white membranes holding the seeds in segments. Red handprints everywhere.

“You’re wasting good fruit.” Aki murmured groggily, letting his head fall back into his pillow. He didn’t have the mental energy to deal with this.

“The thing is, I don’t even know what it is. I tried to bite it like an apple, but the skin’s gross and it’s making everything messy.” Denji revealed the bloody insides of the fruit.

“Such a stupid fruit, why would the good part be mixed with the seeds?” Power complained.

There was a small basket with five spaces for pomegranates on the bedside table. Juice beaded the surface where two were already taken.

“Leave me one and I won’t be as mad when the painkillers wear off,” Aki uttered, closing his eyes. He began to drift off to the sound of Power and Denji pelting each other with the loose seeds.
