You're Welcome

Summary:

Takes place a bit after that little food festival they had.
So Korosensei becomes human and Karasuma has to basically take him into his apartment. Stuff happens from there!! Oh yeah, and Korosensei's a free loader, sighhhh

Notes:

listened to "You're Welcome" from the Heather's on repeat while writing this hence the title. I also just thought it fit. First ever fic I'm publishing,!! I really feel like there's a lack of Human Korosensei x Karasuma and it bothers me to death, so I wrote this!! Please note that my English is a bit broken sometimes. If there are any sentences that don't make sense, feel free to comment about it!!!
This will be updated occasionally, this first chapter especially.

Chapter Text

It had only been a week since Korosensei turned back into a human. The students were barely getting adjusted to the change, and Korosensei himself had no idea what the hell happened. They weren't the only ones freaking out, the officials looking over him were about to burst a nerve trying to calm down the situation. Everything had to be changed, and the whole assassination plot thing was postponed to figure out if it was ethical to have a group of middle schoolers kill a grown man with real weapons, (It's most definitely not).

For the past days, Karasuma has been busting his ass trying to fix the whole mess. Obviously he couldn't turn him back into an octopus, but the higher-ups put a lot of pressure on him. Korosensei began teaching again yesterday, awkwardly trying to get out of the manners he used before, like extending his arm as if it could stretch. He dresses differently, dropping the gown, but keeping the tie and white button up.

Karasuma slouches in his chair, typing quickly on his laptop. He needs to send an update email on Korosensei. Doing this everyday was starting to get Karasuma's nerves, but it was necessary in the end. He hears footsteps nearing the door of the break room, and Korosensei walks in. Out of the corner of his eyes, Karasuma spots a cup of coffee in his hands.

"Hopefully the workload isn't getting to you." Korosensei says quietly, setting the cup down on the coaster on the desk. He leans against the wall, opening something up on his phone. It takes Karasuma a bit to realize that the coffee was for him. It made sense. Korosensei had become a bit more courteous to his co-workers, probably because if he does something to piss them off, they actually have a chance to harm him now. Korosensei turns to Karasuma, his voice low. "Everyone's been stressed out, reasonably."

"It's no one's fault, really. None of us expected it anyways." Korosensei lifts his head a bit, content to hear the situation from someone else's perspective. "The school day's about to be over, do you even have a place to stay?" He turns away from his laptop, more focused on getting an answer from Korosensei. "Well.." He shrugs, his body shivering lightly. Clearly he was still getting used to his body again. "I did, but since I can't fly anymore, it's impossible to get there."

Karasuma lets out a sigh, rubbing his temples. "And where have you been staying? You're human now, and you have needs."

"The school.."

He shuts his laptop close instantly, now having a new problem to deal with. "The school. A run down building on a mountain? You really need to reconsider your decisions.." Karasuma stands up from his chair, agitated. "It's no big deal, Mr. Karasuma. There's plenty of food here, and water!" Karasuma raises an eyebrow, skeptical. "By food you mean snacks. You obviously don't have water, the only thing I've seen here that's liquid is soda and fruit punch. I don't think you understand. You're human now, and your old eating habits won't help you in the slightest."

It was true, thought he didn't want to admit it for the sake of his dignity. Karasuma was right about not being able to live a healthy life in the conditions of the school. In his mind, he'd figure it out later. He already knew it wouldn't lead to anything good.

Karasuma curses under his breath, grabbing Korosensei's wrist and dragging him out of the room. It surprised Karasuma a bit, the fact that one of the most infamous assassins in the world was, for being his age, a bit shorter than average. When did height have to do with anything? He reminded himself. Korosensei follows his lead, only a bit startled. "I'm grateful, really.. Even if this is a bit unnecessary." He says, keeping a cheerful attitude. Karasuma, obvious from his grunt, isn't very amused.

He walks out of the school, where he's greeted by Nagisa.

"How's it going, Mr. Karasuma!"

He walks right past him, ignoring the greeting and practically dragging Korosensei behind him.

"What's he doing to that poor guy?" Nagisa says, whispering to Kayano as she walks beside him. She tilts her head, as clueless as Nagisa. "Probably taking him to a convenience store or something. Do you think he begged him for food?" Nagisa shrugs, knowing it's a possibility. "Nah, he's an adult, I'm sure he has better things to do than to force our PE teacher to drive him to take food." They continue walking on, keeping the interaction in mind to laugh about later.

It takes a bit of driving to reach the destination Karasuma had been so desperate to reach. A large modern-looking apartment complex looms over the car, the balconies casting a shadow over most of the parking lot. "Look. Your life is in the hands of the government, and that includes me. I need to make sure you're living properly." Korosensei looks at him in an understanding manner as he rolls up his sleeves. He looks around, slowly following Karasuma up the flight of stairs.

Karasuma is opening the door to his room open while Korosensei is on all fours on the floor panting. "You.. You go up these stairs everyday?!" Korosensei yells, struggling to get back up to his feet.

As the Reaper, Korosensei was far from weak. To some he looked like a young boy, but he was much more than capable of helping himself. It might've been a change of mindset or body, but after he turned back into a human, he noticed some changes in his stamina. Even after those changes, he's definitely not someone you would call scrawny.

Karasuma doesn't say anything, instead, stepping into the apartment. He sighs, motioning for the other man to follow him inside.

Korosensei shivers a bit, the temperature unusually high. "It's very nice.." Korosensei says softly, sitting on the edge of the bed, getting comfortable way too quickly. "I didn't really expect you to live like this. You're a government agent after all."

"It's good not to stand out. I'm sure you know all about it."

He goes silent, taking a good look at the living space. It's small, designed for one person. It's cozy, for a lack of better words. "So, do I have to do chores or anything?" He gets up, prepared just in case Karasuma starts to order him around. "Sorry about making a big deal out of you living at the school, by the way. Now that this whole thing has happened, I have to make sure that you don't get hurt or anything while we come up with a conclusion." He had already explained this before, but this time he felt giving him a proper apology

He had never considered to be cared about for a reason like that, but it made sense in hindsight. Lots of things had happened, and he was as confused as the people watching over him. It would take some time to adjust, so he doesn't mind taking it slow for now until things worked out.
