Summary
Connie Swap is a completed fanfic series with Connie as the gem hybrid trying to live up to the expectations put on her by her guardians (Peridot, Lapis, and Jasper), her dad (Doug), and the long shadow cast by her mom (Citrine). Connie's adventure begins with Episode 1: Gem Glow and it quickly diverges from there.
Connie Swap draws inspiration from the show but it reinterprets as it goes: Connie is a very different protagonist than Steven and these are very different Crystal Gems. Each episode contains original art and several contain original songs.

“Avery,” the urgent voice says again, a little breathless and… Pained, he thinks? “You— how long have you—” he swears profusely under his breath, trembling ever so slightly. “Avery, you need to wake up.”
Wake up? But he is awake. He blinks, not understanding, and the strange golden gladiator seems to pick up on that pretty quickly. He grips his shoulders tighter, enough where he might have bruises later but can’t really find the will to care about it.
He should be getting back to work. His work is not done. He can’t rest yet.
But he doesn’t even try to pull away, too entranced by the yellow eyes that never once look away from him. They seem… Different, somehow. Something about the body before him is… Familiar, even if he’s pretty sure he’s never met him before.
(Or Derek returns to the garden in the church to snap Avery out of his trance in person rather than leaving a sign. Their first official meeting goes a little differently.)

“You said there is nothing we can do out here,” she said. “What about in there?”
“In where?” Colosso asked.
“His head,” Phoebe stated with some kind of conviction that made no sense in the situation. She was running headfirst into this just as blind as everyone else. Someone had to find the right answer here and she was nothing if not an overachiever. The fact that she couldn’t exactly look at her brother didn’t need to be mentioned. “The dream. Nightmare. If we can’t wake him up from out here, we can do it in there.”
“Would that work?” Chloe asked, looking between her and every other ‘adult’ in the room. Phoebe rarely disliked being in charge, but this was one of those few moments she wished she had someone to look at too. Someone who could actually tell her what she was supposed to do here.
Because would that work? She had no idea. But she couldn’t say that.
