[I miss you]
Lighter's fingers trembled, almost dropping his phone. He reacted quickly and gripped it firmly.
"Whew, that was close!"
His heart, having just skipped a beat, was now pounding hard in his chest.
Feeling his face and ears gradually warming up, Lighter whipped his head up and looked around. After confirming that no one saw his uncool moment, he turned around, faced the wall and stared at his phone again.
'Is this really Proxy? Let's not get too excited. Maybe he got hacked. Yeah.'
Taking a deep breath, he calmly(?) replied Wise's message, asking whether he got hacked. However, if Lighter were to really calm down and think about it, could anyone even manage to hack the legendary proxy? And who would do that just to send him such a message? Alas, his mind and heart were already experiencing a turbulence.
[Of course not!]
Lighter's heart jumped again while his ears turning so red that it could drip blood.
'Could Proxy really had meant what he said in the same way I felt about him or was it just another friendly gesture between friends?'
Lighter couldn't help but think that Wise wasn't interested in him, since this was his first crush and all. With this thought, his pounding heart and reddish ears gradually calmed down.
He continued his chat with Wise. Seeing that Wise was asking him to hang out, Lighter asked him where they should meet.
[Why not come to me?]
Lighter almost dropped his phone again.
'Why does he have to say it in this way?! It could lead to misunderstandings!'
Lighter complained in his mind but his heart and ears do not seemed to agree. Trying very hard to keep his image cool and not start running around in excitement like a maniac, he kept his head down and typed on his phone, his fingers visibly shaking and typing faster.
'What if it's real? What if he really was interested in me? Even just a little bit?'
Lighter's thumbs hovered over his phone screen, seemingly wanting to test the waters.
'Screw it! Go big or go home! If I'm wrong, I can always brush it off as a joke.'
[Sometimes I don't feel like going out either]
[But coming to see you is more important]
There! He did it. Hopefully, this would at least get the hint (or message) across.
After Lighter saw Wise replied with the time of their meet up, he put his phone down and leaned his head against the wall. He was not quite ready to leave his position just yet, considering he could still feel his heart pounding and ears hot.
In the past, he had only focused on fighting and paying off his debt. He was confident in his own strength to make it through life threatening situations. He became part of the Sons of Calydon and was called a Champion.
But now, with just a few sentences from the legendary proxy (aka his crush), he could feel so... vulnerable, yet so happy.
Lighter looked up and let out an airy laugh.
"You're gonna be the death of me, Wise."
