Morning kisses

Summary:

It’s the one day the two have off together, every second Thursday they get to lay in bed a little longer, every Thursday morning they get to just exist in each others company.

Just a little snippet of Albedo and Kaeyas mornings~

Work Text:

About once every two weeks both Kaeya and Albedo would have Thursdays off from work. The usual chaos of getting Klee ready in the morning and rushing out the door replaced with a slow start. Albedo cherished those days. Today Kaeya was still asleep, his hair in a braid, hand relaxed next to his head and mouth slightly parted with a gentle snore moving his lips slightly. The two still had their legs intertwined, Kaeyas other hand resting its finger tips on Albedos hips which burned with a somewhat pleasant feeling, which they always did after a walk down the mountain. Albedo had woken up with a beam of sunlight incessantly attempting to wake him, the curtains had a frustrating gap to them that let sun in when it was rising, they really need to get that fixed but they keep pushing it to the back burner of their priority lists.

Kaeya slept on the side of the bed closer to the bathroom while Albedo took the side of the window. Since Kaeya slept with his eye patch off, waking to the sun on his scar ridden eye would prove painful as it was very light sensitive. Albedo didn’t have any issues being near the window, on days where they had to work they both tended to get up a little before the sun rose and on days they had off, days like today, the sun would wake him up and give him a few minutes to enjoy cuddles with his sleeping partner and a few moments to admire how peaceful and careless Kaeya was when he was asleep. The man always had so much on his mind, not that Albedo was any different but he does hope Kaeya gets a rest from his racing thoughts the way Albedo does when he’s walking up and down the mountain.

He sits up, pulling his arms over his head to stretch. He feels a warm hand pull him back down, the arm wrapping around his chest and pulling him into Kaeyas arms. ‘Did I wake you?’ He asks, letting himself relax, pressing his lips between Kaeyas eyebrows. Kaeya shakes his head no, resting his head into the crook of Albedos neck, then leaning down to press a sloppy kiss against Albedos star. The blond yelps in surprise, a gentle but sudden spark of pleasure tingling through him, which Kaeya chuckles at.

‘Morning Bedo’ Kaeya murmurs, slightly muffled by Albedos neck. Kaeya had the gruffest morning voice, when they’d first started sharing a bed he’d honestly woken up in a panic after hearing it, it sounded so different from his normal voice he almost thought it belonged to someone else. It was comforting now, a sign Kaeya had actually had a nice deep sleep, unlike his previous issues of waking up in the middle of the night with nightmares. Since then two had shared a bed they seemed to decrease in severity but they never went away.

‘How do you plan on spending the day love?’ He asked, his hand finding Kaeyas head still gently nibbling at his neck, mostly ignoring the star.

‘Nothing planned, Klees still with Lisa and Razor but I should pick her up after lunch… other than that a peaceful day. You?’

‘Painting’ Kaeya didn’t even have to ask what he was working on. It was very different from his usual works, a restoration this time. Kaeya had come to him with an issue, during the night of his father’s death and the fight that followed one of Crepus’ paintings had been scorched half to ashes. Apparently it caused Diluc a lot of mental anguish and the blond had offered to restore it as his future brother in laws wedding gift. He’d even asked Jean, she said he’d absolutely love it and it was a perfect gift. Crepus had painted a beautiful picture, an incredibly detailed depiction of the Monstadt Cathedral, truth be told it was giving him some trouble. Though he did find a new appreciation for the man, anyone with this much of a steady hand and dedication to replicating the world must have a deep appreciation and love for his subject. Which checked out, Kaeya mentioned the man never missed Sunday church.

‘It already looks incredible,’ Kaeya lifts his head from Albedos throat briefly, before diving back down to mouth and bite at the star on his neck. Given how sensitive the birth mark was, surely he couldn’t be blamed for the breathy moan he let out? He pulls Kaeya up by his hair, kissing him gently. Kaeya hums softly, licking into his partners mouth and pulling him closer, rubbing circles into his hips.

After a few minutes, Kaeya rolls out of the bed and walks to the window, tugging the window open and looking outside. ‘Smells like it’s gonna rain today,’ he reports back to Albedo. That’s another habit Kaeya had picked up over the course of them living together, every morning he’d do a little prediction of the weather after looking out the window. He’d started after Albedo complained that when he was in Mondstadt he would struggle with the temperature. Albedo was heat sensitive and while it wasn’t an issue on Dragonspine, it was in the city. If he wore a heavier fabric on a hot day it would be the straw that broke the camels back most of the time, sending him into a sensory overload. Kaeyas little weather forecasts made it easier to decide what to wear and often alleviated some sensory inputs allowing him to have a better day.

‘Why does it do that? Like why can you smell the rain?’ Kaeya asked, resuming rubbing circles into the blonds hips.

‘It’s called petrichor, it’s a mix of compounds. Some of it comes from plants and soil, when they decompose by virtue of some microorganisms, they make something called geosmin. Humans are very sensitive to its scent. When the air becomes more humid in preparation of rain it causes more geosmin to be made, then the aerosols released by raindrops pick it up and it’s carried away on the wind. Then we can smell it.’ He finishes his explanation, only to look down to see Kaeya looking back at him. One blue eye and one gold, both swilling with a mix of admiration, affection and amusement.

‘My dear alchemist… you are such a nerd.’

Albedo smacks Kaeya on the head.
