With Christmas drawing near, the amount of decorations going up was in full swing. The entirety of the city looked straight out of a postcard. It was the one thing that Aki liked about the season. She was giggling over the mistletoe everywhere, and dragged Yusei under them. Yusei, for his part, seemed puzzled. "What are these green plants hanging everywhere for?"
Aki tilted her head, confused. She knew that Christmas in Satellite looked different, but surely they still had mistletoe, right? Yusei wasn't the type to pull her leg, admittedly, but he was the type to tease her before a kiss. "Oh, surely you had it," she asked as she leaned in closer, still expecting him to take full advantage of the fact she was standing right under it. "It's mistletoe. Didn't you have it in Satellite?"
When he looked up at the plant, perplexed, it slowly dawned her that no, the tradition did not exist in Satellite. "What's the point in hanging it everywhere?"
It occurred to her that if she wanted her kiss, she was going to have to go after it herself. "Well, there's this tradition that if someone is standing under mistletoe, you're supposed to give them a kiss," Aki said, her cheeks slowly turning a bright pink. She grabbed the lapels of his jacket, pulling him down into a kiss with a soft hum of appreciation. Yusei's arms wrapped around her instinctively, flooding her senses with the familiar mix of gasoline, nicotine, and his aftershave - all the things that made him home. "Like that..."
Yusei's confusion faded into a smirk, and he pulled her in for another kiss. Aki got the impression this was a holiday tradition he liked.
