Summary
In the medieval kingdom of Paradis, every 500 years a new king is selected. There is no such thing as an heir, instead, once selected by the holy royal council, each candidate has to go trough multiple torturous challenges in order to prove their manliness and be considered king by the celestial lord. Merely being selected would be a huge honor and enough to never have a single financial worry in life. Eren would have never considered himself a possible candidate, until he was called on stage on the very faithful day.
