Chapter Text
The Sun brushed against the angelic mans smooth skin, almost like it was caressing him to awaken from his slumber.
The man was not to pleased about this, he opened his mouth yawning and covering his mouth.
Xie lian.
a man of true beauty, as he opened his eyes, he let out a loud…long…groan, almost being blinded from the light of day which he used to enjoy many moons ago…(many)
he turned his head to his bedside table to see what time it was, usually it wasn’t this bright when he woke up, so he had figured already he had overslept.
indeed he did, the alarm clock had read 8:23am, he would be late for work at this rate! Mu Qing would be un happy, or how Feng xin put it into words ‘pissed’ though he wouldn’t mutter such words himself even alone in his caged room.
He muttered to himself, rubbing his temples, he already could hear mu qings scolding.
“Great work Xie lian, your going to be late to work…again.”
he sits up out of bed, his body felt horrible, like he was stuck in an empty white room without food or water to starve to death or depression..well that was the best way he could put it into words atleast.
The second he had managed to drag himself out of bed and into his small kitchen, something brushed against his leg. his pride and joy, his cat rouye, or what he called him ‘his son’ although the small creature couldn’t do much for his well being. Xie lian would risk his life for his kitty..even though it brang back horrible memories some times
He smiles for the first time today, although it was eight in the morning, it still meant something for him.
He kneeled down to caress the cats soft fur quickly, he sat there for a good two minutes before hurrying up realising he was wasting time he could be using to get ready!
”im sorry Rouye! I’ll bring back your favourite treats today I promise!”
he knew he probably wouldn’t, but anything to make him feel atleast better.
he brewed up some coffee, which somehow he hadn’t messed up, everything he did seemed to end that way.
he quickly finished his drink before rushing to his room to get into uniform…he didn’t even know if uniform even mattered at this point, all the customers they had were regulars, they’d know if he was a worker or not.
He takes a deep breath to steady himself.
“just calm down, todays going to be a good day.”
throwing on the uniform he had forgotten to shut his bedroom window like he always did. from the fear of being later. he hurried out the door and called a taxi.
five minutes later a car parked infront of him and he opened the passenger seat handing the woman the money.
in 12 minutes they arrived infront of a small cafe which actually did pretty good customer wise.
the people who mostly came were old women and men. or couples on a date looking for somewhere cute but cheap, though he didn’t mind, he knew some peoples orders off by heart.
as soon as he stepped into the store he heard yelling aimed at him.
”Xie lian! We open in damn 2 minutes, you were supposed to help clean, what would have happened if a celebrity walked through that door!”
Mu Qings screaming went in one ear and out the other except for that last part.
”a celebrity?”
he chuckled, how foolish Mu Qing could be sometimes, but he was funny, he knew he was over exaggerating it to scare him.
”I doubt it…I swear I won’t be late again.”
Mu Qing let him off with a warning, and Xie lian started working.
Just three and a half hours into his shift he had soon come to regret his words he had muttered earlier this morning deeply.
‘just calm down, todays going to be a good day’
While he was busy serving a customer, a mask from the window caught his eye…making him freeze in place in an instant
outside of the small cafe was somebody he had dreaded ever seeing again.
White no face the murder of his parents, the reason for his suffering, suddenly his mind went back to when he was seventeen years old, seeing his parents on those ropes with a note under their feet was traumatising to say the least.
He rushed to the back rooms of the cafe to where Mu Qing and Feng xin were arguing with eachother while working..double tasking atleast.
sensing xie lians panicked aura it had perked Mu Qings head up instantly.
he crossed his arms, his eyes going heavy and his eye brow raising with curiosity
“Did you see somebody getting murdered or what, gee! you look absolutely shaken.”
he rolled his eyes with an annoyed tone.
this piqued Feng Xins worry as well as he finally noticed Xie lians distress.
“..I- uhm..”
He was so terrified he could hardly get any words out! He could feel bile creeping up his throat…he thinks he was about to be sick.
mu Qing saw his face palen, and he rushed into action. quickly grabbing Xie lians wrist and bolting him out the back door which lead to outside
He would be sure to thank mu Qing later, but now he truly was about to be sick, so he pulled his hair back…vomiting basically his insides into the grass with how much he had got out.
Mu Qing patted his back harshly, but Xie lian truly didn’t mind, any contact of affection from Mu Qing wouldn’t be taken for granted.
”you could’ve just ruined our beautiful floor..ugh..just what happened-?”
Mu Qing hid his concern with pure annoyance, acting sassy, putting his hand on his hip and cocking his eye brow up like usual.
feng xin had stumbled not far behind them, he felt a little stunned seeing his highness so terrified, what exactly happened..he crossed his arms thinking, before he felt enraged by Mu Qings harsh rude words to the man who had just been vomiting his guts out mere seconds ago
”you dumbass! He’s obviously feeling sick. stop speaking of him so lowl-“
Mu Qing clenched his hands, holding back from smashing his fist against that ‘idiots’ face.
Mu Qing brushed it away for now..before he grabbed onto Xie lians arm, walking to the nearest chair forcing him down onto it before he passed out because of how pale he looked.
Feng Xin wanted an explanation that instant, whatever was burdening Xie Lian was not a good thing.
he had calmed down a little bit now that he had stopped vomiting (for now at least)
”white-“
Xie lian paused, rubbing the back of his neck with a heavy breath, he couldn’t finish.
”cmon…spit it out already!”
”White no face! I saw him I swear.”
Mu Qing froze in place, Feng xin clenching his fist, Mu Qing spoke up before Feng xin in a rough rushed tone
”white no face? Are you sure you aren’t hallucinating, he was arrested remember??”
xie lian shook his head. if only something could kill him right now, truly he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, it was embarrassing he had just vomited, but he was terrified of the man outside the cafe, well if he was still even there now.
“please just believe me.”
Feng xin just thought xie lian was hallucinating, he always did that. so he stormed outside to check if he really was there.
Mu Qing comforted him with the best of his ability, even if it was just telling him he was probably hallucinating, and a few back rubs here and there…Xie lian knew deep down Mu Qing cared, even if he thought he was a mad man.
Finally after seven hours of work and stressing from the man thought to be outside, he had started walking home..Feng xin had told him no one was there and that he should visit a doctor incase he had gotten ill and hallucinated
But he knew it wasnt an hallucination …right? Everything felt normal except it was freezing and the white no face incident. Xie lian swore he could turn into an ice block, he shivered and hoped he kept his bedroom window shut so rouye wouldn’t be cold aswell.
well he thought it was ‘usual’ until he heard a grunt from an alleyway, his head snapped the direction it came from. dark…deep?…this must be a scene from a horror movie, should he…ahhh he didn’t know.
dread pools into the pit of his stomach, something was telling him to run, escape. but his legs moved on there own.
so he was forced by his own body into the alleyway, he decided turning his flashlight from his phone on, was a good idea as soon as he stepped foot into the alley, a metallic scent flooded his nose, gross. and his heart started to pound almost begging for him to turn away..did he listen? No…he couldn’t, his body wasn’t letting him!
that was until his flashlight landed on IT.
His face went from curiosity to pure fear…he knew how to fight but what if- he instantly paled and he had felt even sicker then earlier! Which he didn’t even know was possible.
