Summary
“Fuck.”
Immediately, he hears the knife clatter as Will steps closer, watching him with a small frown. “What happened?”
“Burnt my finger,” Nico mutters, shaking his hand out. “Dammit.”
Will doesn’t hesitate. To Nico’s surprise, he gently takes his wrist and leads him over to the sink. “Cold water,” Will says firmly, turning the tap on. “It doesn’t look bad, but let’s keep it under for a minute or so.”
Nico stays quiet, more aware of the way Will leans closer, his brow furrowed and his mouth set in something close to a pout as he examines Nico’s hand. The rush of cool water is a relief, but it doesn’t do much to calm the sudden flurry of emotions.
After a moment, Will turns off the tap and steps back, giving Nico a smile warm enough to make him pause. A dimple forms on Will’s left cheek as he asks, “Better?”
Nico opens his mouth, but nothing comes out. Before he can force a response, Will freezes, his nose wrinkling.
“Is that smoke?”
