Work Text:
In the Abyss, light was a scarce commodity, but this single room held enough to vanquish darkness.
Lining every shelf, the candles scorched shadows from existence. Some stood alone. Others clung together as pairs, the same way their namesakes had in their final horrible moments. Wax dripped down the candleholders, obscuring the etchings. But it mattered not. Even with her eyes shut, their names were seared into Lumine’s soul.
She lit another.
Another friend turned memory. The sea of candles’ expansion continued, destined to never recede.
Surrounded by a plethora of flickering flames, Lumine knelt and wept.
The light burned.
