Chapter Text
One moment he stood right in front of Owen. Right after, he was running right to his death, in the maze.
——————
It had been around 2 days since then, and Owen hadn’t been doing well, not that he’d ever admit that. It was hard to sleep these days, since something in the back of his head kept whispering ‘your best friend is dead. He won't ever come back. It's your fault,’
“Why….why would he just…run off like that?” he said, not entirely realizing the only soul he was addressing was well, a pig. Everyone else was sleeping. After all it was 3AM, most likely. Time seemed to be getting warped, but that might be a result of never leaving his house. Time seemed to be going too fast, yet too slow at the same time. There really was no pleasing him.
“You reckon he would have stayed if I had visited him, just once? If I didn't yell at him, if I had just forgiven him, would he be alive? If I had just protected him?” Talking to a pig wasn’t very productive, Owen soon realized. It's not like Puddy, who was amazing and he loved very much, was going to help him in any way, not while being stuck in the middle of his house.
“Maybe I should go out. Maybe someone misses me? Do you think they even noticed? That's probably quite likely too.” Owen really despised the idea of going out though. Everything reminded him of the friend he lost, how easy his death could have been avoided.
“Suns almost up Puddy. Think it's about time I go check on everything. I think I heard vitamin D, or whatever vitamin you get from the sun, is good for grief, and its symptoms…or something like that. My memory‘s been coming back but it's been hazy."
Owen stood but from his bed, the very one that he had been sitting on since he left. “See ya Puddy” Owen said, right before walking off into the early morning.
