Chapter Text
As Danny got off the bus he stared at the apartment building where his best friend and crush of 3 years waited. Just the thought of seeing Drew started to make his heart beat faster. He was filled with a feeling of exhilaration but also an almost crushing nervousness. Finally after standing outside for what felt like hours, but was probably just a few minutes, he gained the courage to knock on Drew’s door.
“Hey silly get in!” Drew said as he opened the door. Danny once again nervous, as he always is around Drew, gulped and started to pull his luggage into the house.
Drew hugged him. Danny only hoped that Drew couldn’t feel how his heart was racing.
“Thanks for moving in with me. Life has been hard since Amanda went missing in Afghanistan. I had to move out of our house and into this apartment. But more than that I’ve just been lonely. I'm so happy to see you Danny.”
”She was so brave. She loved you. I know it’s not the same but Laura left me a few months ago and I’ve definitely been feeling pretty isolated from the world.”
Drew had a sad smile on his face. He gazed into Danny’s eyes, and Danny could only hope this meant he might return his feelings. Even if Drew wasn’t ready to date yet because Amanda had only been MIA for a few months Danny was excited to start this new chapter of his life with Drew.
“Yeah… Let’s get you settled in,” Drew says while turning away from Danny. “It’s only a one bedroom place so you’ll have to share a room with me if you don’t want to sleep on the couch,” Drew smiled over at Danny awaiting his response.
”It'll be like a sleepover!” Danny exclaims excited at the prospect of literally sleeping with Drew.
”Totally!”
Then there was a knock at the door.
“I’m not expecting anyone else today.” Drew mumbles to himself.
Danny followed Drew to the door when they opened the door it was to a girl with long brown hair and purple eyes.
”Hi?” Drew said.
”Hi,” the girl said while flipping her hair back to reveal her badass studded belt around her black jeans, and black top that had long sleeves which seemed to be rolled up to her elbows. Her ears were adorned with skull earrings and she had dark makeup on her face.
“I’m your neighbor Jackie! I live just across the hall,” She says happily. “I meant to come over when you first moved in but I’ve been busy.”
”Nice to meet you. I'm Drew and this is Danny and we are not the same person.”
”Well if you need anything don’t be shy. Come and knock on my door anytime.” Jackie says. She then walks back into her apartment.
“She was nice,” Danny starts while turning back towards Drew.
”And pretty cute.”
Danny then feels a pang of sadness pierce his heart. Was Drew totally straight? Danny had always wondered if Drew was bi or maybe pan because of how he had seemingly expressed like for men before, and how he would sometimes playfully flirt with Danny when they were alone. His sadness quickly ebbed as Drew gave him a sweet smile.
