“Tch, Dr Ratio, I didn’t take you for a liar.”
“I’m not.” Veritas scrunches his brow and returns his gaze back to Reca’s own. He has to ignore the stutter in his chest as he sees that smug smile.
“Then a man of half-truth.”
“I am a man of complete truth.”
“But not for me?” Reca grins and bats his eyelashes, an infuriatingly obvious ploy to flirt and fluster, and yet, its transparency does little to prepare Veritas for the way it makes him feel.
“The truth is that you are irritating, and yet…”
Reca’s grin only seems to grow, the cheshire smile revealing his perfect teeth, his eyes lighting up with a mischievous spark.
“And yet?...” He draws out his words, coaxing Veritas to continue.
“You intrigue me.” Veritas begrudgingly admits.
