Summary
There is a dragon in a nearby cave who is said to hoard knowledge instead of jewels, to thrive on the thrill of learning rather than that of the hunt, to believe that humans—at their core—are more than just food to be eaten. The village by that cave reveres this dragon, even though they’ve never seen them. Isn’t that even more of a reason to worship them? For the fact that they seem to be so completely disinterested in their people? This little village had attempted to sacrifice someone to their dragon protector once, and the sacrifice was promptly returned with a note saying, “Please do not do this.” They do not fear their dragon, for they have heard nothing about him to fear; no, they respect him, for the dragon respects them in return.
On a completely coincidental and unrelated note, there is also a scholar, who seems to only visit the village once in a blue moon and has been doing so for as long as any of them can remember.
