Work Text:
'Twas the night before Christmas, and throughout New York city,
Everyone was sleeping but Iron Man and Spidey.
Spider-Man was patrolling; he swung through the snow,
Hoping no criminals or bad guys would show.
Iron Man, however, was designing a new suit,
Starting with plans for a new thruster boot.
Outside of Queens, Spidey was using his webs
To propel himself home, toward his warm, cozy bed.
But inside Central Park there arose such a clatter,
He swung through the gates to see what was the matter.
Down the quiet paths, he flew like a flash,
Looking for whatever had certainly crashed.
The moon was up high, lighting the way,
And Spidey was ready to help save the day.
When what to his wondering eyes did appear,
But a broken-down sleigh and eight happy reindeer.
Everything was fine, according to St. Nick,
But Spidey could tell the sled needed a fix.
He was good with his hands and had the brainpower,
But the tools that he needed were back at the tower.
One thwip! Two thwip! Past a billboard!
A left and a right and another leap forward!
To the top of the building! And through the window!
“Iron Man! Iron Man! We need to go!”
There was no delay, Iron Man quickly took flight.
Soaring with Spider-Man into the night!
"Where are we going?" Iron Man finally asked.
“To help Santa Claus with a difficult task!”
Iron Man went faster, Spider-Man did too,
Zipping past clouds till the sleigh was in view.
Santa was frantic by the time they arrived,
He’d been grounded too long; he needed to fly!
Iron Man got to work, with Spidey at his side,
Fixing the sled for a magical ride.
They tightened the bolts, polished the red sleigh,
They made sure it would last throughout Christmas day.
With an arc-reactor power and webs for support,
They fashioned repairs of a fantastical sort.
Iron Man installed boosters under each rail,
Spidey double-checked their work would not fail.
At last reindeer harnesses were fastened up tight,
Every buckle was checked under soft moonlight.
Santa looked on with a grateful cheer,
As his sleigh was transformed with new technical gear.
“Marvelous!” he cried, “You’ve saved Christmas joy!”
Then he cinched up his bag full of wondrous toys.
“Come, my hooved friends! We need to be fast!”
The reindeer leaped up and took off like a dash.
Their jingle bells rang with a light airy sound
As Spidey and Iron Man waved from the ground.
Up, up, and away, the sled zipped past the moon,
Promising gifts would be delivered quite soon.
“Good teamwork,” said Iron Man, displaying a grin.
“We just saved Christmas! I call that a win.”
The they heard Santa shout as he flew out of sight—
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”
