Kaeya was so fucking done. He died years ago when he was no longer Diluc's brother. When he lost his father. The two most important people in his life. But he is just a walking corpse, surviving for the sake of it with a bright attitude and a keen smile. Of course, all of this was an act, a show under a mask. You could even say he is just as good as the former archon of Fontaine.
Diluc was cold and harsh towards Kaeya ever since the incident with his father. He hated Kaeya with a heavy heart but for some reason, he could not imagine a world without him. Without the smile, the bickering, the cunning looks. Could a world even exist without him?
A beautiful day in Mondstadt, the cool breeze, the sunshine, the birds, it was a perfect day. No perfect day could ever stop the stupid and violent deed Kaeya planned to commit that night.
Kaeya felt like shit waking up, especially at 16:47 pm, and wanted to rot in bed but he forced himself up to prepare for his final day in this life and possibly, this universe. Kaeya had to make sure everything was perfect and already had most of it prepared. He sold all of his furniture except a bed and table so that he could pay back Diluc all the damages and his bills but unfortunately, no amount of Mora could make Diluc forgive him.
However, perhaps Kaeya's life would.
Kaeya had most of the letter written,
one for Klee, one for Jean, one for Rosaria, one for Barbara and one for.. Diluc?
Kaeya POV: (FUCK I forgot to write a letter to Diluc but what do I say?)
He grabbed a piece of paper and pen, sat on the floor and wondered what to say.
(What do I say to him? I’m sorry? No, that isn't enough)
Kaeya thought for a bit until he finally wrote his letter

𝘐'𝘮 𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘐 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘱 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦, 𝘐'𝘮 𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘐 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦, 𝘐'𝘮 𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘐 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥, 𝘐'𝘮 𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘦 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳, 𝘐'𝘮 𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘦. 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦.

𝘈𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬, 𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦.
𝘕𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘮𝘦, 𝘐 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶.
𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭 o̶u̶r̶ f̶a̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘏𝘪.

𝘒𝘢𝘦𝘺𝘢
Kaeya probably spent almost two hours thinking and writing his letter and left the comfort of his house with his fake mask. He greeted people on the streets of Mondstadt as if it was a normal day just like every other and headed his way to the Knights of Favonius HQ to see Jean.
Kaeya approached Jean's office, took a deep breath and entered with a warm and bright smile.
“Good evening Acting Grandmaster Jean! How have you been?” -Kaeya
“I have been well Kaeya, how are you? Are you doing well?” -Jean asked, not even looking at Kaeya and writing on some documents.
“I am quite fine thank you but may I give in my 2 weeks notice?” -Kaeya
“I don't see why not, we aren't too busy during this time of the year so I'm sure it would be fine.” -Jean
“Thank you! I will take my leave now.” -Kaeya said with a noticeable crack in his voice as if he was about to break down. Jean took notice of this and looked up at Kaeya and before he could leave..
“Wait”
Kaeya looked back at Jean still with a smile but it seemed more off.
“Are you sure you are okay Kaeya? You know if there is anything going on you can talk to me.” -Jean said with worry in her voice.
Kaeya didn't respond for a few seconds but then said,
“Don't worry Master Jean, I assure you I am fine!”
Before Jean could say anything else, Kaeya left in a hurry, not even looking back. He discreetly left Jean the letter on her table and went around to give the others out.
However, now Kaeya's next destination was Dawn Winery and although he wasn't keen on seeing Diluc's hatred for him another day, he wanted to see h̶i̶s̶ b̶r̶o̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ one last time.
When Kaeya reached Dawn Winery, he hesitantly opened the door to see Diluc's expression turn even colder than it was before he came in. Diluc kept looking at the glass he was cleaning, avoiding eye contact and his obvious annoyance at Kaeya's presence.
“Diluc! How have you been?” -Kaeya said trying to be genuine.
“Kaeya I do not have time for your bickering, what do you want?” -Diluc said with obvious irritation.
“Hm- not very kind now are we Mr Ragnvindr. Ah- oh well may I just have some grape juice? Thanks.” -Kaeya
Diluc stared at Kaeya with a bit of confusion mixed with his emotionless face.
Diluc POV: (He doesn't even like grape juice in what universe would he order it?)
He didn't say anything and got Kaeya his grape juice ready with a feeling which seemed.. Off
Diluc didn't want to question Kaeya and handed him his grape juice just for Kaeya to just stare at it.
Kaeya didn't even touch the glass and left the total sum of mora he had gathered and left it on a table with the letter.
Kaeya walked off back to his small apartment as the clock hit 21:02.
Diluc came back to see the untouched grape juice, large bag of mora and.. A letter? He was confused at first and thought that this was some kind of joke but then got worried. The mora in the bag was real and Kaeya was nowhere to be found.
Diluc skeptically opened the letter and read it.
His heart dropped and rushed out followed by-
“Charles! Take over the bar, it is urgent I need to go!” And left before he could get a response.
Diluc POV: (No no NO Kaeya please hold on for a bit longer! I'm coming please!)
Diluc ran as fast as he can until he was able to see Kaeya's apartment. He banged on the door screaming:
“KAEYA open the door! PLEASE!”
But, there was no response and without thinking, Diluc broke down the door and rushed to find his baby brother praying to every archon, even the Tsaritsa, that he was not too late.
He looked everywhere screaming Kaeya's name hoping for a response and when he reached Kaeya's bedroom, he saw Kaeya covered in blood, holding a knife and leaning against his bed.
“Kaeya! Hold on a little longer for me! Let's go get Barbara. Please..”
Diluc ran out of the apartment with Kaeya in his hands, his baby brother, bleeding by his own hands.
Diluc entered the cathedral and screamed for Barbara.
“Barbara! PLEASE HELP KAEYA!” -Diluc screamed out.
“Diluc what is wr- Oh my Barbatos let me take him!” -Barbara said, rushing over to take Kaeya's body. Diluc sat down at the cathedral with thoughts racing through his mind.
“Why did he do this? Was it because of me? How long has he been like this? Will he be okay? Was I too late? I didn't even get to apologise yet. Please Kaeya, don't leave me..”
What felt like seconds, was hours and when Diluc snapped back to reality, he felt tears running down his cheeks. He wiped them away as Jean approached him.
“How is he?! Is he alive? Please Jean..” -Diluc pleaded.
“Calm down, he is alive but in critical condition. He will have to stay longer so that Barbara could watch over his condition. You can see him though, he is awake.” -Jean replied, trying to soothe him.
Diluc rushed to Kaeya to see him awake and staring at the ceiling.
“Kaeya! You idiot! You could've fucking died!” -Diluc screamed out.
“I would've been fine with that, that was the end goal was it not?” -Kaeya replied calmly, still staring at the ceiling.
“No.. But why? Why Kae?!” -Diluc asked.
“Why would you care? You should've killed me years ago if it wasn't for the cursed vision. That plan went down hill and I even failed to fucking pay you back again. For fucksake IT WAS FOR YOU DUMBASS. EVERY TIME I AM AROUND YOU ACT LIKE I WAS NEVER RELEVANT. WHY NOW?!” -Kaeya
Realisation hit Diluc and all of his questions have been answered but.. He wishes they weren't.
“You planned for me to kill you? Fuck no Kaeya no I never meant for all this shit to happen. I didn't want to kill you I just did it out of rage.. Please.”
“But that was the entire plan which ended up not in my favour to be honest.” -Kaeya replied with an uneasy calmness in his voice.
“No, that is fuck. Please let me fix us. We can start again! I am sorry that I disowned you but please don't do that again.. Please let me help you Kaeya..” -Diluc begged knowing he ignored every time Kaeya wanted to start over just to be here on his knees begging to start again.
Kaeya stayed quiet for a while before reluctantly saying-
“Fine, we can try again..”
Diluc was happy at this response and vowed that he wouldn't fuck up again. That they would be together until the end of time.
Kaeya got better over time and was invited back to Dawn Winery with Diluc. They both got much more closer and always talked about their childhood and what silly things they did.
